JUST IN: Joe Rogan Helped Ms. Pat When Black Comedians Didn’t
On the latest episode of 'Club Shay Shay' (Nov. 13, 2024), Ms. Pat opened up about her personal experiences with Joe Rogan, calling him a “kind” and “supportive” friend.
Patricia "Pat" Williams, better known by her stage name Ms. Pat, is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and author born on April 2, 1972, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her life story is one of extraordinary resilience and transformation.
She became a mother at a very young age, having her first child at 14 and her second at 15. As a teenager, she turned to selling drugs to support herself and her children, using the street name "Rabbit".
Ms. Pat's journey into comedy began unexpectedly. During visits to the welfare office, her case worker noticed her talent for telling funny stories and encouraged her to try stand-up comedy.
In 2003, she performed at an open mic night in Atlanta, marking the beginning of her comedy career.
She pushed back against negative rumors, saying, “People say he’s racist. That’s not the Joe I know. If I ever need something, I can pick up the phone and call him.”
She also shared that during the pandemic, Rogan was one of the few people who checked in on her. “He asked if I was going to make it through. That’s real friendship,” she said.
Ms. Pat even pointed out that Rogan has helped promote her shows when blacks in the comedy world wouldn’t: “Joe will tweet out a show for me when some black comedians wouldn’t even do it.”
This isn’t a side of Rogan critics usually talk about. Could people be missing the real story about who he is?
