VALORANT Championship 2024 by the Numbers 📊
⋆34 matches, 106 hours broadcast (vs 34/110 in 2023)
⋆45.2 Million Hours watched (-9.6% YoY)
⋆1,342,846 Peak CCV (+12.6%)
⋆425,918 Avg CCV (-5.9%)
⋆For the 2nd year,
@tarik generated more hours watched than the official Twitch stream (5.37M v 4.32M), insane!
⋆5 of the Top 10 Streams were co-streams (Tarik,
@kyedae,
@lazvell,
@Mixwell, and
@FNS)
⋆57% of viewership came from UGC vs 55% in 2023
Co-streaming is undoubtedly the future but what does this future look like if numbers eventually skew 60% UGC vs 40% Official?
Monetizing new viewers/subs is of course great and banner/spray drops, while seeming lower value, are still a great gesture. Rather than advertising restrictions, could advertising participation be considered? Is there enough pie to go around?
BTW...this isn't unique to VALORANT, recently:
-IEM Cologne 2024's - 57% UGC/Co-Streaming
-Esports World Cup (LoL) - 59% UGC/Co-Streaming
-EVO (SF6) - 47% UGC/Co-Streaming
Let me know if I'm wrong and creators are perfectly happy with simply just the opportunity and potential boost in new viewers/subs...
