“web3 gaming is dead” ☠️ I watched people also declare: • mobile gaming “dead” in 2008 • free-to-play a “scam” in 2010 • esports a “joke” in 2013 • digital skins “worthless” in 2015 gamers pushed back on every major shift, until it worked. you need to zoom out to see the full picture. > four years ago this space was abysmal. exclusively ponzi schemes, insane onboarding demands (wallet, download .exe etc) & zero entertainment value plagued it. > four years later we have Sony filing crypto patents, macro finally crypto friendly, Nexon entering with their biggest IP, Ubisoft working on 3 games & many more unannounced projects in the works. if you look back at the core issues & reasons gamers would “want” web3 gaming - that remains unchanged: • want to make money playing games • want to trade assets freely for cash • want to own / flex assets across games • want insta payment if i win competition to believe that web3 gaming is dead, just because it hasn’t fully taken off yet, is simply foolish. just as foolish as giving up on mobile gaming 2 decades ago would’ve been. if your definition of “success” is having very successful token launches & post TGE valuations - then sure, it’s dead. and so is most of crypto right now. but if your definition of “success” is onboarding gamers into crypto whether they know/not, and solving problems to cater to those initial “wants” that kickstarted this space - we’re light years ahead of where we once were, in almost every aspect. • onboarding is much better • quality of games are much better • games finally on epic/steam/console • big IP entering & experimenting • big studios building/wanting to build zoom out, take a deep breath, and believe in something. we’re just warming up.

Road to $100k challenge on @sportfun. > Current portfolio | $27k (287% 📈) Here's my 6 step strategy & top picks moving forward to get that 5x 👇 1) The returns & money people are making will attract none football fans, many of which will want the path of least resistance ie: not needing to watch 100s of games or keeping up with the sport. Those users will only look at page 1 and buy into Yamal, Mbappe and the top 10 or so players they recognize from social media. I'm personally using those top player values as price anchors for the undervalued players. For example, it makes zero sense for a player like Salah to be 1/5th the price of Yamal considering his output over the last 5 seasons. 2) Since we're aiming for players that will win tournament top spots and attract new buyers, I'm going for players that shouldn't find it too difficult to 5x their value in the next few months of the season. 3) I'll also be monitoring injuries / rotations / new transfers that might affect player picks eg: if McTominay is injured I'll try to be the first to sell him and rotate the money into a new player etc. 4) People think too much about the forwards/strikers and forget about the slightly easier positions like GK and DEF, so I'm doing the opposite and actually looking at those positions a lot closer to make the most out of each tournament. 5) Opening packs is a really good way to get more player shares without needing to spend $, but imo the legendary pack (1,000+ player shares) is the best in terms of ROI, so I'll save my tournament points specifically to buy those packs and not the lower share (cheaper) ones. 6) Last but not least, sniping new player drops is one of the easiest money glitches there is at the moment. Especially when a new hyped player is announced, there's 0% chance others won't be trying to either buy instantly or buy post launch (limited player pool at the moment that should cap out at 250 players approx). So I'm keeping a small liquid portion for quick snipes at all times. Here are my undervalued player picks: → Mo Salah 0.174 | Best player in the Prem, criminal price → Bruno Fernandes 0.107 | Most chances created W1 & last season → McTominay 0.044 | Best player in Italy last season, basically free → Trafford 0.041 | City's new main GK, no brainer unless Pep rotates → Raphinha 0.125 | Yamal beta pick, equally as important → Kane 0.15 | Germany's top scorer, makes no sense to be this low → Haaland 0.169 | Bad szn last year but recency bias, machine → Dembele (TBC) | PSG won everything last year, no brainer snipe → Kudus 0.034 | Unsure bc Spurs but if they score he'll be involved → Tah 0.037 | Bayern bully most teams & he can get a few goals too I've got many more players I'm keeping an eye on, and some players that haven't even dropped yet that I'll be looking at sniping, but this is a good chunk of who I'm betting on early into the season. 🇦🇪 Dubai Guide for Token2049 Newbies (I’ve lived here for 23 years): Feel free to bookmark this for later ⬇️ • You can use credit cards or Google/Apple Pay everywhere (cash works too) • Uber app works, but you can download “Careem” to get cheaper taxi fares • Almost everything is 10-20mins away by car/taxi • Traffic during rush hour (6-7pm) will extend most trips by an extra 15-30mins depending on destination • Almost everyone speaks English including waiters, taxi drivers, security etc. • App voice calls don’t work here eg: Telegram, Whatsapp • There’s wifi pretty much everywhere, but you can get a temporary SIM if you’d like too • No you don’t need to fully cover “everywhere” as a woman, but figure out the appropriate dress code for each venue eg: bikinis are fine at the beach, but not the mall etc. • Weather’s floating between 20-30 °C mostly next week (you’re lucky), but all indoor venues have ACs so keep that in mind • If you stay anywhere around Downtown, Marina, JBR, Jumeirah, Bluewaters or JLT you’ll be relatively close (10-20mins max) to the event & most side events • Yes there are bars, lounges and clubs. Yes they do serve alcohol. Yes you might need to show your ID (if you don’t look old enough) • Drugs are absolutely banned & illegal in the entire country. Don’t be stupid. • Yes you can take pictures & videos around, but avoid getting other people in the frame without their consent (nothing happens 99% of the time but if they’re not comfortable & complain, you’ll be at fault) • There are supermarkets (groceries) and pharmacies pretty much everywhere - most deliver online or by calling too • 999 is the police number in case of any emergency (but it’s one of the safest cities on earth) 998 for ambulances and 997 for the fire department • Don’t be disrespectful, racist or offend anyone regardless. Take care of your friends if they’re drunk 🙄 so they don’t say or do anything they may regret later. • Download “Talabat” app for food delivery or use Deliveroo • If you’re planning to visit religious sites both men & women need to cover & dress appropriately • The conference & overall flow works like pretty much any other event - you can get a ticket to actually attend the conference, but most purposeful networking & connections happen in side events • Most hotels offer free bus rides to popular locations or can call you a taxi directly, feel free to ask & seek their help if needed • You need a “Nol Card” to use public transport including RTA buses or the metro • ‘Abu Dhabi’ is a completely separate city that’s about 1-1:30 hour drive (you don’t need papers or anything to enter) Overall tbh, just don’t be disrespectful to the country or the people & you’ll be fine. I spent a week in Saudi Arabia figuring out what’s next in the 🇸🇦 gaming scene. Half the time I was explaining to curious bystanders what “web3 gaming” was. Here are some of my findings ⬇️ • Saudi currently boasts the highest gamer-per-capita ratio in the WORLD, with almost 89% of the population identifying as gamers. • KSA’s government is aggressively investing in tech and gaming with several gaming events & initiatives planned for 2024 & beyond • Around 73% of gamers in the kingdom use smartphones; mobile gaming presents a huge opportunity • Plenty of services, grants, subsidies and loans to leverage for game studios & publishers - but most require physical local presence & a clear plan to employ & upskill Saudis moving forward • Web3 gaming exposure in KSA is still early enough that “negative sentiment” hasn’t settled in around NFTs & crypto • Plenty of web3 gaming conversations were filled with curiosity more than anything - clear educational gap • Epic Games, PUBG, Unity and many more are already actively expanding within the region. Many will follow. • KSA’s dream is to nurture its own studios, publishers and IP above all • Web3 game studios view KSA as a potential opportunity to raise capital; many lack context & execution strategy Saudi Arabia and the MENA region remain untapped high value regions for the gaming industry - even more so for web3 gaming; a “welcomed” concept. I’m curious to see how things unfold in the next 2-3 years esp as we grow our reach in KSA through prev knowledge of the region & its esports/creator scene. Let me know if you have any Qs 👇
