Are you surprised by the attention being given by India to the Seychelles? If you ask me, it is about time we gave it enough importance! I've been arguing for decades (since 1995!) that the Seychelles could be one of the most strategically important countries for India. You just need to open the atlas to see why. India already dominates the eastern Indian Ocean thanks to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. They are among our most valuable strategic assets, and are now being developed from a military point of view. The Seychelles occupy the same sort of space in the Western Indian Ocean If India can build irreversible bonds of steel with the Seychelles, and develop a really close strategic partnership - then its position in the Indian Ocean becomes that much stronger. Especially when you consider other strategic allies like Mauritius further south. India is finally giving the Indian Ocean the priority it deserves, and that's good.
As PM @narendramodi is enroute to Seychelles, watch the highlights of the close and strong India-Seychelles ties ⬇️ 🇮🇳 🇸🇨

Hi @alok_pandey, I would like to rent 10 of their rickshaws for a week. They don’t need to do anything - just promise to be at home with their families. Let me know how I can send the money.
#JantaCurfew is bad news for Lucknow’s rickshaw pullers . They are daily wagers and income is down and the future is even more bleak . Spoke to them a while ago . Also , maintained a distance , shot on zoom , wore a mask , but did it because their voice needs to be heard !

No country on the planet knows how to play the US better than Pakistan. *Penal tariff rates on India for buying some of its oil and arms from Russia. Pakistan literally runs its entire economy and defence as a Chinese satellite. 19% concessional tariffs. *”Don’t be a member of BRICS”threats to the rest of the world. Pakistan is China’s closest ally. No problem. *Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan get bombed for terror links. Osama Bin Laden is literally found in Pakistan. No consequences. *Iran gets bombed for trying to build a nuclear weapon. Pakistan does go nuclear, and also proliferates nukes across the world. All is good. I’m in genuine awe. Pakistan should run management seminars on how to pull this off. It could make billions of dollars.

I fail to understand why Indians travel to Europe via Istanbul! Along with China, Turkey is the one solid and constant supporter of Pakistan - and always has been. India should instead build relations with Turkey's key regional rival Greece. It's strange that there are so many direct flights to Istanbul and none to Athens.
Open source int handles say that the cargo has munitions and missiles for Pakistan from Turkey. What can common Indians do? Cancel your travel bookings for holidays to a country that helps Pakistan in arming itself. Do your bit.

I've been thinking about the question of "Why now?" when it comes to the Pahalgam terror attack. Yes, Pakistan is in a mess and the Pakistani army would like a distraction - but that's not unusual. Pakistan is normally in a mess. Here's the only logical answer that I can come up with. Post the tariff wars, a large number of Western companies are looking to shift from China to India - Apple is just the most obvious example of this. How do you slow that process down? Show India to be an unsafe place - with political risks from terrorism or from war. Get companies across the world to rethink their India plans. That slows down India's rise - which is what Pakistan wants. It is also what China wants - and let's face it, Pakistan is nothing without Chinese support and backing. What do you think? Any other explanation for the timing?

The 400 paar slogan could have been a self goal - both because it set expectations too high, and because it enabled the opposition to raise the "Constitution in Danger" issue. The strange part about the recent hate in the USA is that the Indian American community is actually a model minority. The highest per capita taxes, well assimilated, built more than 90 unicorns, created plenty of jobs. Most of them embrace American ways and American values. That's in contrast to, say, Canada - which did get in a lot of scamsters and Khalistani trouble makers - many of whom are not well assimilated. And many of whom make little effort to fit in. Hence it is possible that the "anti Indian immigrant" storm could blow over in the USA faster than in Canada. And if it doesn't, then there is something deeper at play.

You can expect Pakistan to start damage control soon - but I think Asim Munir has made a major mistake here, which India should capitalise on. It hurts Trump's efforts to describe himself as "The Peace President", if his new favorite Pakistani Army Chief is sitting on US soil threatening to blow up half the world. These are offensive threats to make while sitting in America. India needs to call it out in a strong manner before the spin management begins.
"India is shining Mercedes coming on a highway but we (Pakistan) are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car who is going to be the loser?" Asim Munir reportedly said in the US “We are a nuclear nation if we think we are going down we’ll take half the world down"

The Indian stock markets have digested the Trump tariffs with barely a burp. They are trading about 0.7% down - which is nothing unusual. That underlines the point that exports to the US are not a significant contributor to the Indian economy. (And they matters even less to heavyweights on the stock market). The US doesn’t have the same leverage in a trade war with India as it does with, say, Vietnam.

India's best policy reforms happen during a crisis. Let's hope that the Tariff Shock will spur the remaining Big Bang reforms that can transform the India Story *Dramatically push Ease of Doing Business *Slash regulatory cholesterol and tax terrorism *Drastically reform the legal system - so that all cases are decided in a couple of years. *Ask all government departments to cut pending litigation by 50% etc etc If that happens, these tariffs will be irrelevant. Exports are a relatively small part of the Indian economy. If we boost the growth rate of the REST of the Indian economy to 9% on the back of deregulation, no one will care about tariffs.

Strong message from @ImRo45
The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days. Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket. Let better sense prevail.

Looking at the spread of Covid19 through the world, I'm puzzled by the numbers from China. How did that country only end up 84,000 cases? How come there was hardly any impact in cities like Beijing or Shanghai? How have fresh cases been negligible for a month? Any thoughts?

It’s a national shame that in 2018 humans still have to go into sewers with no protective clothing. At the last Cleanathon joined @SrBachchan in pledging to keep fighting till this is eradicated. Pls help with your ideas and suggestions.
The boy walked up to his father's body at a crematorium, moved the sheet from the face, held the cheeks with both hands, just said 'papa' & began sobbing. The man was yet another poor labourer who died in a Delhi sewer on Friday. Family did not have money even for cremating him.

One of the key points at the @RahulGandhi press conference today - he said that 90% of those who died in the second wave died needlessly, they could have been saved if oxygen was available.

How many of you had tears in your eyes when the national anthem played? 🇮🇳 An entire generation of Indians less than 40 years of age have only heard it once before at the Olympics.
Goosebump moment at the Olympics as the victory ceremony begins. The Tricolour 🇮🇳 and the National Anthem.

The Indian ambassador to the UAE has had to step in to douse the flames that bigoted comments have ignited. Islamophobia can seriously damage our relations with multiple key partners in the Middle East.
India and UAE share the value of non-discrimination on any grounds. Discrimination is against our moral fabric and the Rule of law. Indian nationals in the UAE should always remember this.

Can we give Paddy Upton a Padma award? 2011 World Cup in cricket Top position in Test rankings Hockey team conditioning And now the Chess World Championship.
Mental coach Paddy Upton says he's spoken to Gukesh once a week for the last 6 months, with the plan to have him so ready no contact was needed during the match. He says a big mistake players make is to think they need to do something completely different in their 1st huge event

The fastest way of upgrading the look of Indian cities is to just fix the pavements! Broken verges, dirt and garbage on the side of the roads is a major reason why Indian cities look worse than their counterparts abroad. Also contributes to air pollution.
The hapless state of every Indian city's walking infrastructure!

I have no idea why trolls are attacking @VikramMisri and, even worse, his family. I think he is an outstanding officer and we are lucky to have him as Foreign Secretary. I also thought his briefings were excellent, to the point and clear. This is abhorrent.

The Congress party has become a textbook case of how NOT to run an organisation. Leadership vacuum, family wanting power without responsibility, inability to nurture talent, no succession planning, muddled decision making... Every management red flag is there. #scindia

I agree. Arattai is a lovely name, but if India wants its products to go global - let’s find names that are easy for the rest of the world to remember and use. The Chinese learnt this quickly. ByteDance used “TikTok” and not Toutiao - which was its forerunner. This is also one of the reasons that @rpsggroup rebranded “Editorji” as “Hook” after they acquired my company. It makes sense! I wasted so much time explaining that it was “ji” and not “G”! @shashwatgoenka @DrSanjivGoenka
Just tried India’s WhatsApp killer: Arattai. Already matches WhatsApp in look, feel, and usability. @svembu says it’s still alpha and improving fast. Can’t wait for a spyware-free product! My old friend is running engineering himself and asked for feedback. Mine: rename it to something the world can actually spell. 😉

I think South Africa will eventually get a lot of credit for speed and transparency after detecting Omicron. If China had done the same 2 years ago, the world may not have suffered so much.
#COVID19 | After a number of countries banned flights from #SouthAfrica, the country's foreign ministry said it is being 'punished' for detecting a new Covid-19 variant #covidvariant #Omicron #CoronavirusUpdates
