Three weeks ago, I was laid off from the Tulsa World.
Nothing to do with performance. Just a frustrating reality of the industry sometimes.
Although the news was shocking, I have nothing bad to say about the 386 days I spent covering Oklahoma State for the Tulsa World. I loved (almost) every single minute.
Luckily, I finished a story I found incredibly meaningful just days before my time with the World ended in which coach Jacie Hoyt and her players spent real time with me discussing how their faith, preseason baptisms and a Bible study impacted the team this season.
I really, really appreciate that time and their willingness to share their faith so publicly. I know it encouraged me, and based on the feedback I got, I had the same impact on others.
Although this professional setback stung, I remain confident the Lord will use this to put our family in an even better spot down the road.
I'm also extremely grateful to say that I'm not done with Stillwater or Oklahoma State just yet...
