I advise every basketball guard who is under 6'2 to read this. This should change the way you look at the game
I gave this advice to one of my athletes and I have to post it for others out there in the same situation.
"At the next level being able to score the ball isn’t going to be as important for you as being able to pass and play defense.
At your size averaging 15 and 10 would put you in a good category of athletes. Especially with the ability to shoot.
You need to have assists and defense in every highlight film you create.
Here is the honest truth, there are thousands of kids just like you who can score the ball, how will you stand out, how will you be different? Are you an elite level point guard who can lockdown the opposing point guard? That’s going to be where you stand out, can you rebound the ball well at your size?
Scoring the ball is important yes… The biggest factor is how you’re going to be different than the other 6’2 and under guards out there, and that comes with being a lockdown defender, being able to run the offense and distribute the ball, and rebounding at a good rate for your size.
Don’t play the same game everyone else is playing, play the game differently, and people will see you differently."
