TROY Football Preview 2025: No. 4 – Eli Russ, OG (Senior)
@TroyTrojansFB
Eli Russ returns as one of Troy’s most valuable offensive linemen heading into the 2025 season. The 6’4”, 313-pound senior from Ardmore, Oklahoma (Plainview HS) was a critical piece of the Trojans' front five last season, earning All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention honors.
In 2024, Russ started nine games, splitting time between center and left guard, where he started the final six contests. Despite missing three games due to injury, Russ was Troy’s highest-graded pass blocker according to Pro Football Focus, allowing just one sack in 265 pass-blocking snaps. His consistency was unmatched, posting 100% efficiency ratings in five games.
Russ helped anchor a line that supported a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiver, marking just the third time in program history that feat has been accomplished in the same season. His leadership, versatility, and elite pass protection will be essential as the Trojans look to maintain offensive balance and protect their quarterback in 2025.
A respected voice in the locker room, Russ is a member of the Troy Football Leadership Council and represented the Trojans at Sun Belt Football Media Day. Fully healthy, Russ is poised to be one of the best interior linemen in the conference this season.
