With our RWI Project Catalyst proposal “Securing Forensic Chain of Custody for Indian State Govt (1million+ cases per year) Using Cardano and Zero-Knowledge Proofs” We will onboard an entire Indian State Govt (241M population) onto Cardano! Yes you’ve heard it right “Onto Cardano” Problem: 1. The government faces a lot of trouble to maintain security and integrity of the forensic data collected. 2. The data collected at the site of crime is now centralized, manipulations can be done very easily. 3. Manipulations can be done during muscle testing, blood testing, bone testing etc. as everyone knows what case the physical evidence belongs to. 4. Due to the manipulations done, it cannot be proved that the data is actually true or false in the court of law, this might cause an innocent person to face jail time. Our Proposed Solution: 1. By building a Forensic management system (FMS) and onboarding it to Cardano. 2. The data collected at the crime site will now be uploaded to our FMS and stamped onto Cardano creating cryptographic case ID, aliases and sub aliases. 3. Our FMS will generate a SHA-256 hash for the Case ID and all the aliases, and sub aliases related to that case at time of upload. 4. The SHA-256 hash along with ZKPs will be stamped onto the Cardano. 5. This ensures that the hash corresponds accurately to the original identifiers without revealing any sensitive information. 4. Now just the required data will be sent to respective testing centers without revealing all the information using ZK proofs. 5. If the data is being manipulated it can be proved via Hash mismatch and ZK proofs would fail to verify it. 6. With this we can verify the data provided at the court of law is tamper-proof.

Our Solution: We are planning to make use of Cardano smart contracts and Zero knowledge proofs (ZKPs) to reduce the risk and secure Chain of custody. : → First step would be at the time of case upload our backend would generate a SHA - 256 for case ID, aliases and sub aliases. → Then that SHA-256 hash along with zkp pubkey will be stamped on Cardano blockchain. → So if someone tries to tamper evidence it will in turn alter the hash and the zero knowledge proof will fail to verify it. → Smart contract on cardano will maintain a registry of all cases tracking creation or any updates to the hashes or associated data. → Smart contracts will ensure that only authorized entities can update or query the system.

Polygon is super well connected in India. We(Cardano) are not yet very known in the govt. systems. We pitched the govt out of polygon and explained Cardano’s every ability. To understand the issues with current chain of custody let's first get an overview of how the evidence follows the trail of Forensic Evidence Journey: → Begins with gathering crime scene data. → Data gets uploaded in the FMS (Forensic Management Software) → Physical evidence is then distributed for analysis. → After analysis is completed, police complies and submits a report to the judicial court. Now the issue with this process is during the stage where evidence is sent for analysis an informed bad actor can tamper with the evidence if they know what case the physical evidence belongs to, So to combat this issue each case is stamped with an unique ID when it’s uploaded. Special aliases and subaliases will also be linked to each Case ID. Despite detailed steps, proving that Case IDs, aliases, and subaliases remain unchanged in a centralized system is challenging and could be problematic in court.

Also, we’re expecting over 10 million + settlements on Cardano L1, every year and we will be creating 5.8+ million DID’s for farmers which will help them maintain their land records, agri data and save them from predatory lending. This is backed by the government. This will make Cardano the front runner for Indian govt of a 1.5 billion population.
