A win is a win! Decent second half. Better teams will make it easier for us to play our game…and they will also, obviously, expose our weaknesses. We’re pretty good, but I can’t see us winning the World Cup, sorry. Also… Engerland, Engerland, Engerland…!!!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This is completely untrue. Most of us love them. Not everyone’s view of course, but one of the wonderful things about being British is having your own nationality and then you also have a bunch of lovely cousins. There’s rivalry towards the Scots, but it’s dwarfed by affection.
I didn’t realise until this World Cup how much English don’t like the Scots. Eye opening 😂

Another celebrity backer has a change of heart (“I had never considered the social injustice it might bring.”) As so often, the more that people look into AS legislation, the less likely they are to support it.

The production of a long-term vision for farming from the Government is welcome - but it lacks the practical ambition to properly support farmers, boost food security, and protect the environment. @LibDems will keep fighting for British farming.

Reminder Lord Falconer was planning how to use the Parliament Acts last summer. So he didn't do the work. He took +5 months to reply to the Delegated Powers Committee, ignored the Royal Colleges, ECHR and domestic abuse charities. Why would he behave differently next time?
Something very odd is happening behind the scenes on Kim Leadbeater’s Assisted Dying Bill. Multiple sources say Falconer is talking up with Govt bypassing the House of Lords entirely using the Parliament Acts — and has been planning this since the summer 1/

The West Coast Main Line is the busiest railway line in Western Europe. And yet the vital project to upgrade the line between Warrington and the Scottish Border has been delayed by successive governments. This must be a priority for the next Prime Minister 👇

Badenoch being needlessly graceless, personally abusive and unpleasant. The Speaker rightly calling it out.

10 years ago I headed down from Westmorland as the EU campaign drew to a close. My reflection is that we won Westmorland that day because we ran a campaign that spoke to people rather than patronising them. We lost nationally because of the tone deaf arrogance of No.10 and co…

Ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall, governments led by all political parties have been complacent about the threat that our country faces. Our national security is too important - we need to work together, cross-party, to make sure our country is defended for years to come.

I was merely Lib Dem leader, but stepping down earlier than you’d originally planned is of course a wrench. Yet it’s really not the end of the world, there is so much more you can do to serve people when the pressure is off. I pray that the PM will find that to be true for him.

Starmer’s been a poor PM, but the vitriol and hatred towards him is just weird. It comes from both the far left and far right. It’s contrived by people whose motives are deeply suspect. Part of me wants him to survive just to spite them.

What a great game - sickener for Ivory Coast, a draw would have been a fairer result.

A brilliant start to the day, visiting the new Lakes & Dales brewery at Tebay. They’re a fantastic, experienced team who are making a great start with their exciting new project and 4 wonderful beers that are already in many of Cumbria’s finest pubs!

Scotland scored early and first against Peru in 1978 and lost 3-1. Maybe it will be the other way round this time? Come on! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
