Been playing around with @deepseek_ai reasoning model for the past few days (both cursor and API) - quite impressive for coding tasks tbh
Quick thoughts:
- Reasoning's more verbose vs OpenAI o1 (which uses abstraction per article)
- API version make use of "reasoning_content" alongside with "content"
- Can stream the real-time thoughts in the API
- Cursor splits via <think></think> tags
Much cheaper than o1 + it's open source.
More powerful for deep reasoning, though slightly slower due to thorough thinking process.
