Each day, Tidal receives an overwhelming amount of AI-generated music from 3rd party distributors. It has been clear for some time that we need to evolve our platform and standards to deal with this new type of submission to our catalog, so today we are announcing an AI-generated music policy designed to provide a great experience for our listeners, while protecting the authenticity and livelihoods of artists and rightholders.
We're a music platform that puts artists and listeners first. To protect artists and keep listeners informed, here's how we're handling AI-generated music on Tidal beginning on July 15:
- 100% AI-generated tracks will receive a badge that says “AI” and will not receive royalties.
- Content designed to impersonate other artists gets removed.
- Listeners will be able to filter all 100% AI-generated content out.
- These standards also apply to Tidal Uploads.

For the spectrogram, there are no LLM models involved. We have experimented with semantic analysis of the song title to pick a background color. Always at the tap/click/choice of the artist and never forced.
