highest honor ever, thanks so much to british fashion council for including me as one of the 50 NEW WAVE creatives this year

Does anyone remember the story where Zoe Kravitz went thrifting in this charity shop and brought her purchases home to show her mom like “hey look what I got at the thrift store, so cute” and her mom was like “I donated those clothes there last week those were mine”
oh my god... I’m on my Tumblr archive in 2016 and I posted an nyc loft as an inspiration picture just hoping and dreaming.. I literally live next door... it’s my neighbor’s apartment lol... I’m in disbelief... no one in the world can manifest like me...
it’s not a new era of self acceptance. it’s what i said last year about how beauty shifted to being about the semblance of biological advantage rather than skill. we see this transition through the shift toward skincare, surgery / injectables, lash extensions.
horrible people have great lives, actually. let’s not perpetuate the idea that people endure suffering in this life because they’re not good enough people
also people saying “no, do not bring back thin eyebrows” they’re already back, your eyebrows aren’t thin… so you’re fine. things can come back and you can just not do them, you’re 30. you have free will.
imitating a dress-form mannequin ties perfectly into what monica miller (author of “slaves to fashion black dandyism”, which the exhibition is based on) writes about reconstruction of identity through fashion
it’s partly because y’all only think things are high fashion on rail thin women and partly no one opening a book to notice fast fashion has been copying 90’s fashion silhouettes for like a decade… fashion nova looks like Mugler…
Breonna Taylor’s life is sacred, what isn’t being understood? Her life is sacred and meaningful and special and it matters. She had experiences and fears and thoughts and love— she’s not a concept. She’s not a mission you’re rallying behind— she’s a person. Please have reverence.
this is an extremely reverential ode to andre leon talley, honoring him on a church fan as a dignified and exalted universally recognized ancestor. the insider cultural references to the church and how black folk fashion identity all make this special.
this video was probably made by someone literally 11 - 13 years old because instead of doll maker websites and dress up games, they have tiktok accounts and images of influencers. it’s so funny how months long discourse, articles etc arise from these videos
Oh, don’t buy Telfar bags secondhand it’s that simple. Eliminate the resale market for Telfar bags lol, literally pretend it doesn’t exist and just don’t get one until they restock.
We’re coming for the illegal smoke shop on your block.
After securing new tools from New York State allowing NYC to padlock shops illegally selling cannabis, we launched a five-borough initiative to weed out and shut down these unlawful operations. 🔒

y’all talk about shein shoppers like survivalists lost in the woods foraging for their next meals, they’re people with credit cards and internet shopping addiction, like, please…
i think it’d be a critical misunderstanding of the point of the meme which is to mock the idea of being demure. the only joke jools is making is that she isn’t demure.
young people buy digital cameras, record players etc. go analog, and there’s a rising interest in fashion culture / fashion history. definitely indicates to me that there should be a matching rise in print magazine sales.
when people find out this is what y2k fashion actually is and looks like, the plates under the ground will shift until they open up and pull us all under
me explaining that it was labeled hipster but you weren’t allowed to identify as hipster it was unspoken and considered being a poser to acknowledge the obvious and intentional signaling we were all doing and self identify
Y’all are obsessively torturing yourselves with hard topics and internet arguments day in and day out, and it is putting so much stress on your brain and taking years off your life, and making you miserable but you won’t quit because you’re addicted and in denial.
I’m not kidding, this is because vh1’s “I Love The 90’s” (and other decades) isn’t a thing anymore. I was born in the 90’s but I can tell you anything about the 70’s and 80’s and catch any reference because of that series.
you should start collecting vintage high quality fashion pieces now more than ever. companies are implementing technology to cut corners and make clothes as poorly fitted / as lazily as humanly possible
lash extensions = you wake up beautiful, they’re semi permanent. lip injections as well, etc ever since then i knew we’d have more and more minimalist makeup because it implies inherent genetic advantage: naturally good skin, long lashes, full lips, even if untrue.
this doesn’t make sense but this reminds me of what people have been writing about how people talk about music and fashion now, as if they’re industry insiders and executives instead of the audience
Do you understand what I mean by shapes and patterning, and design? these designs are so dynamic as if they were made to be viewed on social media on a small phone, but they’re from like 20 years ago. Why aren’t the girls doing this
I wish non-Black poc understood the media and public don’t care about their issues because they just don’t care— not because they’re “too busy caring about Black people”. Regardless of Black people or Black issues, your crisis doesn’t have visibility because of racism, not us.
there are about a billion books, news articles, teen vogue links, movies, documentaries etc. where you can learn about racism, the whole “educate me” thing isn’t going to work anymore, we literally live in the future sis lmao. the world is in your hand, educate yourself.
when i was 17, an article published that supposedly scientifically proved that black women were the least attractive women on earth. it was on the news. if you’ve ever had the option to just engage beauty or fashion culture without thought, it’s because you’re privileged.
the anti-reading, anti-trying, “it’s not my fault i can’t (go outside, make friends, read books)” people are outnumbered. people are trying, outside, reading, supporting the arts, creating art, meeting people
so many “video essays” on youtube are just plagiarized sentence after sentence of viral tweets / statements everyone has said 100x before that we’re all mostly in consensus with, it’s so scary. and they never even have an actual opinion
“brat summer is just about rich people having fun” genuinely what does this mean… brat summer isn’t… real… it’s not a revolutionary holiday being co-opted, it’s the name of a famous major artist’s album marketing campaign for their album… what are y’all———
