PAX AUS 2025 was probably one of the most rewarding and validating experiences for me ever. I wanted to share and celebrate everything that happened - THIS IS A LONG ONE:
First of all @ANZCreators. Many months ago the team thought, "hey it might be cool if we had branded lanyards and name badges for the weekend so creators could find each other!" Due to us having no budget, this turned into one of the coolest collaborations with Red Bull Tetris. We handed out about 500 lanyards across the weekend and had the biggest PAX meetup I've ever seen (thanks for the photo @8bitElliott), followed by a casual mixer event.
The ANZ Creators gang continue to surprise and inspire, and I can't wait to see what's next. Thank you especially to @justkyledavid, Jordan & @roguecarls from @redbullau for their time and generosity, and to the ANZ Creators team @ZombiesLvBacon, @MoonlitCharlie & @hannabealla.
Next up, Overwatch 2! The community around this game SHOWS UP and it's bloody awesome! I was very lucky to put on the "You Think You Know Overwatch 2?" panel again this year with @dix0nm8, @Profound_Rice, and epic newcomer @MuttnikOW. It was a lot of fun discussion and trivia (with prizes thanks to @Blizzard_ANZ and @PlayOverwatch). We even had @aaronkellerOW send a welcome message which blew us away.
Thanks to Nic, @meganleigh_r & Kaedi for the support, as well as @Astrokerrie for saying yes, & @GenerOZity for having us on their stage.
The @UbisoftANZ party was spectacular, and a great chance to have some fun and celebrate R6 Siege's 10th anniversary with creators and players. They even gave me a trophy for being the community "Silly Billy" that I shall treasure! It was also a great excuse to meet up with the JCTN team led by @JudgeBrand and @Overlord717. Thanks to @elliebtea, @bvaughan6 & Dylan as well as the @REKTgn team who were working hard!
Also can we talk about the Twitch Community Meetup Party and Moondog? Congrats to all the state groups coming together for an epic event bringing @Twitch_ANZ streamers together for a night of connection.
Now for the soppy part. PAX is so special for me purely for the PEOPLE. They don't say "Welcome Home" for no reason - content creation is often an isolating experience and this is the event where the internet converges to get some face to face time!
I was so lucky to meet so many of you all over the weekend and I'm so grateful to all who came and said hello, and supported the activities I was doing this weekend. I really feel like what I'm doing is valued and I have made some lifelong friendships.

There's something in the creator space that’s been bothering me for a little while, and that's charity fundraising. I love the idea of raising money for a good cause, and I recognise that many creators are passionate about doing so, but the line between genuine partnership and outright exploitation is getting incredibly blurry.
It seems to me that many so-called "opportunities" for creators are now just locked behind mandatory fundraising. Want to use a streamer studio at a convention, feature in a cool event or be involved with a particular brand? Raise money for their chosen charity. It feels less like a collaboration or partnership and more like we’re just being used for our community’s wallets.
Being constantly pressured to run fundraising also feels disrespectful to communities that creators have spent years fostering. Constantly asking them for money, especially when the cost of living is hitting everyone hard, just feels wrong. It treats them like a resource to be mined. And it also begs the question: when do creators get to be supported themselves? People often want to help their favourite creator improve their content or just make a living, but that support gets diverted when every opportunity is co-opted for someone else's fundraiser.
Look, this isn't me being anti-charity, I know there is incredible work being done in the space. This is a plea to re-think this predatory cycle. Creators and their communities deserve real partnerships that are built on mutual respect, not just a one-way transaction. It's time we started talking about a healthier system where creators are treated like partners, not prey.

I've had a day to reflect on #PAXAUS! So many cool things happened and I wanted to share & celebrate!
🦆I was in the now iconic PAX PowerPoint Party led by @piebypie and featuring unhinged maniacs @TheGemCosplay @RealSnugboy @lifeofrubii @MattBrandwood @owldaweeb & @ChrisLMiddleton. This was by far the most fun and crazy show I've ever been a part of and I hope we can do something again!
📝I hosted a panel for the @GenerOZity stage called 'The Definitive Blizzard Tier List: Australian Edition' with fellow @Blizzard_ANZ featured creators @Fiamma_29 @Profound_Rice @PandaTVoce @dix0nm8 @Salem_Vande & @TheGemCosplay. I want to say we raised over $3000 in our hour (without doing shoeys🙃) & had over 220 individual donations for @blackdoginst. I am so keen to get more involved with GenOZ - top tier people.
⚡My side project @ANZCreators (with @ZombiesLvBacon & @MoonlitCharlie) had a blow-out meetup event with over 250 creators (we ran out of name tags at that number) who attended inside and outside the room. We'll have to find a bigger space next time - #ANZCreators is something I'm excited to see grow (so rapidly!) with lots more news to come.
🎮The Overwatch OCE community continues to show up to stuff and be so damn nice. It's so awesome to put faces to names and connect with creator pals who are constantly levelling up their content. I've made so many friends from this game and getting to hang with them at PAX is the best.
📸This was my first PAX content creator badge and boy did I get involved in some content (even the official video!). I don't even know how many cameras I appeared in front of but I was so happy to do so. I feel like I flopped a little bit with publishing my own stuff but I'll get there!
🗣️But the biggest thing for me was simply chatting to an insane number of creatives across the weekend. I am so grateful to everyone who gave me moments of their time for a chat/drink/meal/selfie/game/goof. @PAXAus is genuinely a place where you make friends for life.💛 THANK YOU 💛

A pretty disappointing moment from Twitch today. Bravo to the brave creators who gave the CEO some hard feedback which was met with some fairly disappointing responses.
Australia and New Zealand is a unique culture filled with talent that bats above our weight. We deserve a platform that listens to us and reflects us.
I and many others are committed to do some of the work highlighting our region that Twitch has abandoned thru @ANZCreators. Let's try and band together as creators and use this moment to get entrepreneurial about showcasing our region. I would love to hear thoughts and ideas on this. I'm certainly cooking up a bunch.

Something I’ve learned recently as a streamer, is how fiercely you have to protect the vibe of your stream. For too long, I let things slide out of a desire to be compassionate. I’d let a few chatters regularly steer the conversation to heavy topics like medical problems, personal emergencies, money issues etc. But I've had to accept a tough truth: while I can be an empathetic person, my primary job is to ENTERTAIN and host a POSITIVE space for the ENTIRE community. If Serybot is running, a random, silly cat fact pops up, and it instantly resets the conversation. It’s a playful, non-confrontational way to signal "let's change the subject" before ever needing to single someone out.

It's over. What an incredible 2 days of the PNY #ANZFaceOff! With these sorts of things, it takes a village so here's a personal big thank you! This weekend we had:
- An impressive production led by @Abe_ANZ and @Gatt_AU with chat and socials integration as well as live player statistics and custom graphics! They were supported by @Hypello & @oraanjj_ who expertly observed the gameplay.
- Absolutely hype and intelligent casting and hosting from @kresellekey, @Profound_Rice, @TheGemCosplay & @HarryBCasts who boosted everyone's egos.
- Behind the scenes support with @MoonlitCharlie, @AvatarLiger, @jifftv97, @dix0nm8 & @AliasTinker assisting with moderating, balancing, organising and everything else that popped up!
- Support from our sponsors @PNY_ANZ @NvidiaANZ @quokkapads @LogitechG_ANZ @Blizzard_ANZ who raised the stakes with prizes galore and a spot on the Battle.net launcher!
- The front page carousel slot on @Twitch EAPAC 🤯. This was a game-changer for discoverability of our event.
- 40 streamers from across Australia and New Zealand who not only played in the tournament but made new friendships and some amazing content in the lead-up (and probably some more to come - watch #ANZFaceoff)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! This was the best event we've ever done and broke all previous records. We should all be so proud.

😔I've been feeling like I've lost my 'mojo' when it comes to streaming this year. I haven't been bringing the same energy, fun and prepared-ness that I used to and I rarely end stream feeling happy with the quality of my content. I've been leaning more into co-streaming and collabs but its probably having a negative effect.
Not looking for a cheer squad or platitudes, I'm curious to hear if creators have had success in gaining a 'second wind' with streaming and what that might look like.
