There’s a popular saying in web3 that goes, “Support the builders.” Many claim to support builders, especially on Ordinals, but when you check the top collections by market cap and floor price, you’ll barely see collections by builders. It’s mostly “no utility” collections leading the charts, which is somehow bearish for a growing ecosystem like Ordinals. It gives the impression that the ecosystem will only be about vibes and not about building infrastructure and tools to improve the experience for noomies and future collectors.
This drives builders away from contributing. When you look at other chains, they are constantly developing because collectors fully back the builders. For example projects like
@pudgypenguins , When people ask why the floor price of Penguins is so high, they’re told about all the cool stuff Penguins have done. This subconsciously sends a message even to the layman, that if they also build something interesting, they’ll receive support. But that’s not the case on Ordinals.
On Ordinals, we have cool features and tech like rare sats, recursion, and parent-and-child inscriptions. These are innovative and unique, things other chains don’t have, and they’re also expensive to implement. Yet they aren’t valued here because everyone just cares about the floor price.
For example, you’ll see a new collection launch with rare sats like Block 9 450x and boom, everyone starts flooring the collection for quick profit. How do we expect builders to invest their time and effort to create cool things here if we don’t appreciate their work?
The best solution for this is education, teaching people how cool the Bitcoin blockchain is, what the long-term benefits of holding rare collectibles are, and appreciating builders. Shoutout to
@TO for what he’s doing with
@Pizza_Pets. It’s a great initiative to teach people how the Bitcoin block works, and it’s sparking interest through games.
Shoutout to
@lifofifo for all the cool features he’s constantly releasing, I get notifications almost weekly about the new tools you’re building. And shoutout to
@thatwagmigirl and all the other content creators who take the time to explain and educate people about how the blockchain works, you guys are GOATED 🐐.
Also, shoutout to the devs, Ordinals space hosts, artists, and everyone who’s doing their best to improve and educate people on the uniqueness of Ordinals. I love you all 🧡
Let’s join hands as a community and MAKE ORDINALS GREAT AGAIN 🧡
