1. NCERT has named its language textbooks after rivers of India. The name “Krishna” is named after the Krishna River. The Hindi textbook has been named as “Ganga”, the English textbook has been named as “Kaveri”, and the Urdu textbook has been named as “Jamuna” (Yamuna). Similarly, the Kannada textbook has been named as “Krishna” as it is one of the major rivers flowing in Karnataka.
2. A balanced diet has been covered in Chapter 6 of this textbook. It is also covered under a separate heading, ‘Balanced Diet’ on page 63. The illustrative image given on page 63 includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items.
Nowhere in the textbook is vegetarianism explained or justified, nor is non-vegetarian food opposed.

NCERT समय पर स्कूली किताबें उपलब्ध कराने के लिए प्रयासरतः है। कक्षा 1, 2, 7, 8, 10 और 12 की लगभग 33 लाख पुस्तकें प्रिंट करा कर बुक्शॉप्स में पहुँचा दी गईं हैं। कक्षा 3 और 6 की नए पाठ्यक्रम् की पुस्तकें अप्रैल और मई में क्रमशः छप जाएंगी। कक्षा 4, 5, 9 और 11 की पुस्तकें अप्रैल माह में बाज़ार में आ जाएँगी। सभी छात्रों एवं अभिभावकों से अनुरोध है कि वे धैर्य रखें और परेशान ना हों।

एनसीईआरटी ने अपने #SWAYAM पोर्टल पर 11वीं और 12वीं कक्षा के विद्यार्थियों की बोर्ड परीक्षा की मुफ्त तैयारी कराने की पहल की है। इसके तहत इकोनॉमिक्स, केमिस्ट्री, मैथ्स और अन्य मुख्य विषयों की तैयारी कराई जाएगी। इसके लिए विद्यार्थियों को पहले रजिस्ट्रेशन कराना होगा, जो 22 सितंबर से शुरू होंगे।
पाठ्यक्रमों में रुचि रखने वाले विद्यार्थी और अभिभावक पंजीकरण लिंक और पाठ्यक्रम संरचना सहित अधिक जानकारी के लिए SWAYAM पोर्टल पर जा सकते हैं।

NCERT has come across incomplete assessment & consequent interpretation in news articles regarding new Social Science textbook for Grade 7, titled "Exploring Society: India and Beyond" which has been designed to be printed in two parts.
Part -1 covers the history up to Gupta period.
Part -2 of the same would be introduced later on this year.
Social Science text books not only follow chronology but also thematic structure of ideas and concepts. A complete assessment of the Social Science Textbooks would be meaningful only when complete books for Grade 7 (in two parts) and for Grade 8 (in two parts) are rolled out as per schedule.

Clarification regarding Grade 8 Social Science textbook “𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲: 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝”
This is in reference to a few news items in which it has been mentioned that the recently released Grade 8 Social Science textbook “Exploring Society: India and Beyond” has removed references to the regional resistance movements.
It is clarified that the said textbook happens to be the 1st volume of this textbook. The second volume is in final stages of development and is expected to be released in Sept-Oct 2025.
Topics relating to the regional resistance movements/armed uprisings such as the Paika rebellion/Khurda uprising of Odisha, the Kuka movement/rebellion of the Sikhs in Punjab etc, will be handled in this volume.
