We thank everyone for the many wonderful supportive messages about the MRC CBU 🙏
It is important to clarify the current situation: The MRC will shift from direct Unit funding to new long-term Centres of Research Excellence = partnership model between universities and the MRC
Next year our Unit @mrccbu in Cambridge will be 80 years old (mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/history/). Sadly, the UK MRC has decided to now close all its units and our funding ends in 2027 so it’s the end of an era for the CBU as we know it. 1/n
