Last fall, Michael J. Fox was presented with an honorary Oscar for his advocacy in raising $1.5 billion for Parkinson’s disease research. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 at the age of 29 when the world was in the palm of his hand. Instead of packing it in & feeling sorry for himself, Fox became a self-proclaimed “incurable optimist” who is quoted as saying “optimism is sustainable”. We live in a world where so many of our heroes turn out to be something completely different than what we hoped for; Michael J. Fox does not fall in that category. Fox is simply one of the most inspiring, optimistic humans Cinema has ever seen. Like Cinema, Michael J. Fox is forever.
