I shouldn’t cuss, but fuck you, we’re not doing this anymore.
Billionaire Elon Musk gave what appeared to be a fascist salute Monday while making a speech at the post-inauguration celebration for President Donald Trump at the Capital One Arena. “Some elections are important, some are not. But this one, this one really mattered and I just want to say thank you for making it happen,” Musk said before putting his hand on his chest and then raising it in a salute that appeared similar to the “Sieg Heil” used by Nazis at their victory rallies. “It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured," Musk said. Trump named Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the "Department of Government Efficiency," an outside commission aimed at identifying federal programs and spending to cut. After Trump was sworn in, multiple lawsuits were filed against the Trump administration claiming that the move violates federal transparency laws.

Hi, female athlete here. I ran this exact trail every single week of my college career. I guess I could have been snuffed out before I graduated, had a career, family, and the professionals at the AP would lie about the suspect bc it fits a preferred narrative. Ibarra is not merely an “Athens resident,” and Laken Riley and every other student was put in danger by not enforcing laws and allowing a man arrested 3x after crossing the border to hang out and work on campus. He had to escalate to alleged murder to be held and/or risk deportation. Good policies. Good work. This story even cites the 2018 murder of Mollie Tibbetts in IA as a reason solo female runners should be worried, *also without noting her killer was an illegal immigrant.* Just stop lying! Here’s the local news station doing actual journalism on this. wsbtv.com/news/local/clarke-…

Losing someone suddenly and having to do it the public eye is not a thing a lot of people have to do, but I have done it. I was pregnant with a 2-yr-old at home. I spoke twice in 5 days after my husband died and was back on TV within a month. One, I had to work. Two, the story I told helped create the framework for the rest of my life bc I committed to my vision for my little family in public. It also inspired people to support and pray for me and helped other people facing crisis, too, I’ve learned in the intervening 10 yrs. Grief is a strange journey and sometimes feeling capable and strong means doing things you’re good at, and @MrsErikaKirk is very good at this. She is carrying on Charlie’s vision, as she is so well-positioned to understand it. Feeling capable and strong will help her be a mom in her darkest moments to her children, who are no doubt (as mine were) surrounded by love and help right now. She is going through something very big and she is doing it with a fierce faith that is carrying her. She is not weird. She is exceptional.
This might be unpopular, but I find it very weird how a widow has stepped into the CEO role, delivered two speeches, one at a stadium memorial (where Charlie’s parents weren’t even present), and is already going on podcasts just two weeks after her husband was assassinated. Instead of being home with her two young children who just lost their dad.

I watched @MrsErikaKirk’s speech last night with my two oldest girls, who were 2 yrs old and 7 mos in utero when my husband died 10 years ago this week. It was the first time I think they’ve really thought about what my life must have been like in that time, which is as it should be. I didn’t want to burden them with it too soon and they’re just getting to a time when we can talk about it more. Funny how the Lord works, huh? They declared “Wow, she’s awesome,” and I agreed. It’s always hard to watch someone start her own journey on this path, but I’ve met and prayed with so many young widows over these 10 years, and it’s clear Charlie chose well, God is at her side, and her kiddos will be so blessed. May her example bless many more women who must do the job under crushing circumstances.

Since everyone’s gonna pile on the widow for not taking a phone call bc we live in stupid times: She should do exactly as she wants, and she knows best how to navigate her new and newly horrific situation. I declined an invitation to the White House four days after my husband died bc I didn’t think I had the strength to go through security and stand on my feet, and frankly, I thought it might make my very public experience even more weirdly public and politicized. A friend went in my stead. I’m trained for public, political exposure and still had no idea how exactly to navigate it while my life was falling apart. She has no obligation to public officials, even though it is nice for them to reach out. She is in a place almost none of you will ever be, and you should thank God for it. If you are not of her political tribe, you can extend to her half the grace you extend to Joe Biden over the loss of his wife many years ago or the loss of his son 9 years ago. She’s two days in. She deserves and needs support and prayers, not judgment. As for Trump, he was literally shot, so he’s also deserving of a moment. His finance person set up a large GoFundMe and he has said he will attend the funeral of Corey Comperatore, although that is another decision for the widow to make. Because people have different desires about how they want to mourn and honor their loved ones and when it’s public and political like this, it becomes even harder to make those decisions. God bless you, Helen. I’m praying for you and I’m sorry that you have to do this.
NEWS Helen Comperatore, the wife of Corey Comperatore, the man who was murdered at the Trump rally, has spoken to the New York Post. She says that she does not blame Biden for her husband’s murder: “I don’t have any ill-will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics. I support Trump, that’s who I’m voting for but I don’t have ill-will towards Biden. He didn’t do anything to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.” She says that Biden has tried to call her but she won’t take the call: “I didn’t talk to Biden. I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.” She says that Trump has not reached out to her yet. Full Interview: bit.ly/3S7Khjm

Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris on July 21 and her first interview was with Dana Bash on Aug 29. That’s not a narrative. That’s reality. Y’all have got to stop pissing on people’s legs and telling them it’s raining.
Harris campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon: "Being up against a narrative that we weren’t doing anything or we were afraid to have interviews is completely bullsh*t, and also, like, took hold a little bit. And we just gave us another thing we had to fight back for that Trump never had to worry about." @DailyCaller

Just gonna post this again to say these are not very hard questions. This reaction is wild. She presumably would be governor to the 40% of Californian voters she can't even fathom answering a question about. It's astonishing the weaknesses a career in a bubble give you.

Journalism should help people understand what happened. A woman did not commit this crime. Nor was he simply a young man. He was a trans-identifying biological male with a host of apparent mental illnesses. This doesn’t have to be the most important fact about him, but it’s a very important fact and leaving it out or eliding it by calling him her is anti-journalism.

Who will speak for the hot people, whose plight has been too long ignored in this country? AOC and I will!
It’s only Monday, but @mkhammer has already won the week with this savage mockery of AOC’s self-absorbed vanity. 😂😂😂

It is an unalloyed public good that people are showing up in droves to these events and asserting they are unafraid to do so in the face of the murder of the leader of this group for doing exactly this.

Musk and his apologists say if consumers don’t like what he does with Twitter, they can go elsewhere. But where else would consumers go to post short messages that can reach millions of people other than Twitter? The “free market” increasingly reflects the demands of big money.

This seems almost like intentional sabotage. No one wants a minimalist Cracker Barrel. We want Hoarders: Southern Grandma Edition. If it don’t look like Meemaw and Peepaw’s, with the only concession to modernity is removing ashtrays, I’m out.

The “slur” was the word boy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is an 85/15 issue, they are on the wrong side of 85% of Americans on this, there is one person on the panel talking about it, and he’s berated in this unhinged way for saying what everyone except this sliver of people knows.
This @CNN clip centers on a fierce dispute over whether calling transgender girls “boys who play in girls’ sports” is a slur. The man who says it isn’t one says that most people are uncomfortable with this and this helped cost Harris this election.

TWO BILLION. Think of every small charity doing good work in your community that has to scrape for cash. Think of every small business in your community that is arguing for a loan. Think of every family in your community doing their taxes right now, for this.
The Washington Free Beacon reports that the Biden EPA awarded a group linked to Stacey Abrams with no real track record a 2 billion dollar environmental grant in 2024. This comes off as a transparent attempt to launder taxpayer money to left-wing activist causes.

Mayor of Athens, Ga. in the wake of the first murder at UGA in 30 yrs. Listed threats: Trump, Charlottesville, possible vitriol from American citizens to illegal immigrants. Not listed: Crime, murderers, his duty to citizens. He is the Norm joke. A blinkered, insane response.

The fact you don’t happen to like an outcome does not make the process that brought it about illegitimate when the process was in fact perfectly legitimate. A woman you don’t happen to like is not unqualified bc of your feels when in fact she is very qualified.

Charlie died doing something I greatly admire. He debated anyone in civil, energetic form. It was fun and enlightening even when I disagreed (that’s the point!). It was what college should be and has failed to be for a long time, which is why they needed Charlie to import it to campuses. We now know too well, that came with great risk. Many young people will mourn his too-early death, and if the aim of the murderer was to end his ideology, the effect will instead be to solidify its following. And if that means more young people agree with his embrace of this raucous American form of debate and refuse to be silenced, good. Beyond mere political ideology, I know he loved Jesus, his country, his wife, and his kids. Lord be with Erika and the children, and let that part of Charlie’s life be a model for other young people, too. Rest in peace.
