From our perspective, the fair launch thesis and practive doesnt get better than this. This is a perfect use case for @huddle01com I think its about time you guys tested the infra for live streaming
Netflix actually crashed and got stuck buffering often while livestreaming Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.
I wasn't expecting this, but I wasn't extremely surprised either.
Livestreaming and recorded content are wildly different in terms of how it is engineered. Netflix's decade+ of experience is in streaming movies. They leverage some incredible edge-caching techniques via their OpenConnect. They not only cache at edge CDNs, they even let ISPs partner in this program and download a cache of top Netflix content into their servers, so when users of that ISP stream movies, it goes from the ISP to the consumer within that network but isn't a net ingress for the ISP (reducing their cost).
All of this optimisation goes out of the door when you're real-time livestreaming. And that's the reason world over, media companies are split between those who do entertainment (recorded content, like Netflix, Hulu, Max, Prime) and those who do News and Sports (Sky, Fox, ESPN)
In fact in India, Hotstar and JioCinema are very very unique in doing *both* entertainment as well as live sports and news at a really big scale.
Only other platform which does both recorded and live at massive scale without hiccups is obviously YouTube (we take Google for granted but this is a crazy company in terms of what they do at scale). The only caveat with Google is that they do not need to implement DRM or stream security as they do free streaming and no one tried to *pirate* their content.
And this is why actually live streaming to 50M+ scale is actually considered a major feat of engineering by the people who actually understand how this industry works, unlike a lot of tech *influencers* just say "oh it is all CDN" 😅

They are engagement farming with no intention to look at your application and the annoying part is, its working for them.
Although I will put in speedrun application for @burnieio chances are high that not having a Harvard or Stanford pedigree comes in the way of us getting even a shortlist.

. @AirCanada I wish to report an incident of rude and possibly racist behaviour from a flight attendant on AC746 from SFO to YYZ on 24th Jan departure.
The flight attendant kept ORDERING me to keep my Fannypack with my passports under the seat. When I said it’s my passport and I cannot keep it on the floor he threatened to deplane me.
I offered to keep my documents in the pouch in front of me as I didn’t want to keep my passport on the floor. He was still adamant that I keep in on the floor. It was a 4inchx 4inch pack with a belt which is a part of my apparel. He kept pressurizing me to keep it away from me. Additionally, when I complied by keeping my passports safely in my bag in overhead storage, he accused me of calling him an A**hole, which I hadn’t even said. He constantly kept hiding his name tag from me and when I tried to take a picture of his name tag, he tried to snatch my phone from me and started ordering me to delete the photo.
I was also told by another crew member that if I make a public post of this they will ban me from flying on @AirCanada

I think your attribution is wrong here. China has the least international talent, but their research output is increasing. If visas are a predictor of good research then China should be underperforming.
There are much bigger issues with academic research and tenure track in US which is causing the downfall. The best talent in the west just doesn't want to go into academia due to poorly designed incentives

I was once working for an recruitment Saas that was using github contribution data to source candidates. None of the employers (after interviews) wanted to hire them as serious employees
Main reason - These guys are good at writing and fixing code but not at envisioning whole systems at production scale. IF they are that good, they would already be busy getting $$$$ for their work to even spend time updating open source repos.
There are exceptions of course, but not a significant number that a recruitment tool could be build out of it.
