Please provide the incidence specific to HS sports? A “few clusters” won’t suffice. You can’t view thru myopic lense of positive tests when the mental and emotional health of our adolescents should be number one criteria. FYI Players have been working indoors for several months
Youth sports have moved indoors where risk of spread is much higher than outdoors. Any gathering of 10 or more individuals presents a high likelihood of exposure, so our strategy is to prevent transmission by limiting gatherings of people who could unwittingly infect others.

It would be great to see the data that says tennis is safer than basketball. There has been a basketball tournament in Lincoln/Omaha every weekend since the first week of July. COVID is not being transmitted between youth. All safety protocols have been implemented and proven.

Parents, I encourage you to call out this CYA type of leadership. They obviously have no idea how much time & sacrifice our HS kids put into the chance to compete for their schools. A “few clusters” was enough to make a decision that affects our children on so many levels.
While COVID-19 transmission is widespread in the community, @LNKhealth has identified clusters of cases associated with youth sports, including volleyball, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. This includes both school sponsored athletics and private teams.

When Grace was in 4th grade I asked her what sport she wanted to play "on the side", and she said basketball. Little did I know the impact this decision would make on her life. So, after many visits she made another great decision. GO MAVS! 2021 COMMIT!

Just an FYI. WWII had over 70 million deaths. Lincoln is currently at 73 which is a .45% mortality rate. State hospital data is trending down over last week. Our healthcare workers have done a great job. They will be the first to tell you to keep kids in schools and activities.
Sometimes public health/safety outweigh personal benefits. There is a pandemic going on-listen to local healthcare workers. I’d sure hate to see how you have handled sacrifices during WWII when the public went without lots of things to benefit the fight.
