California, your governor just threw away $250+ million in taxes, as well as the independent redistricting commission so he can raise money & his profile for his presidential campaign. Vote NO on his #Gavinmandered map scheme in November.
Gov. Gavin Newsom officially signs legislation that cements California’s special election on November 4. Voters will be asked to simultaneously approve new Democratic drawn Congressional maps and support nationwide independent redistricting.

Government officials to take your child (12 & older) & mutilate & sterilize them. I'm not sure how we got here as a society. I wish I were being facetious or making this all up. I'm not. I've known Alex since his days as a CA State Legislator. His political savvy helped his meteoric rise in CA Dem circles with deep LA & Sacramento connections. After narrowly beating my friend, @Pete4CA, to become Sec of State, he oversaw the motor voter program that allowed illegal immigrants to vote. It makes sense why he's so mad here.

A couple quick thoughts on the Governor signing AB 1078, stripping authority of school boards to keep age-inappropriate books out of classrooms. 1. This bill doesn't impact the Governor's children because they are in a very expensive private school where parents can make demands on the school. Plus, he's recently been concerned by the masculine voices in media his kids are listening to. 2. It's clear the Governor didn't read the actual bill. He read summaries of the bill & a few hagiographies, but this bill will be a nightmare to implement. I predict a quiet "fix-it" bill early next year. 3. This is an opportunity for every parent tired of the DEI & CRT taught in their classrooms to complain about the overt racism inherent in these courses. I'll work on setting up a template for the complaints and am happy to distribute far and wide. 4. There will be a realignment in districts next year focused on quality content, not failed policies and disinformation by the current gatekeepers. 5. Superintendent Thurmond will not be able to keep pace with the number of complaints that will begin coming in. If he can't even organize a Parent Advisory Council 18 months after announcing it, who thinks he can properly adjudicate a nonsensical policy?

On April Fools Day (next Tuesday), the CA Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports & Tourism will be hearing two bills that would get men out of girls' sports: AB 89 (Sanchez) & AB 844 (Essayli). This should be non-controversial bills in a country with Title IX protections for women already. However, both bills are likely to die at the hands of radical activists, led by the committee chair, Asm. Chris Ward. How do I know this? Because Asm. Ward has been actively attacking parental & women's rights during his time in the legislature. Who else would rush through AB 1955, a bill that urges schools to keep secrets from parents (something that I was told not to do as a child in the very rational 1980s)? Democrats already rejected Asm. Essayli's attempt at a floor vote. What if we had hundreds of girls show up with their mom or dad to support the @billessayli & @KateSanchezCA bills in committee? Have them line up, state their name, the position & sport they play & state that they don't want to play against boys because it's unfair?

The name-calling & false accusation of parents -- from across the political & ideological spectrum who don't believe that government owns their children -- should be beneath you, but somehow it isn't. So serious question - would you be alright if a teacher pulled your child out of class & tried to convert her to another religion without your knowledge or consent simply because they might be confused about what you're teaching them at home? Is it alright for a teacher to proselytize to children at school? How is that any different than exploiting vulnerable children with gender dysphoria?

So, vote for me or not, but know that I left it all on the field & I'll be working until the clock hits 8pm to get people to the polls so they can vote for me, vote for parents. It's been my honor to be the man in the arena, even if my Google number is out to the world. -end-

Stiffling reasoned debate & silencing thoughtful & learned doctors leads to higher fear, distrust & panic - possibly desperate outrage. The tension can build only so much before a dramatic reaction goes for the established powers that be. We should be asking more ??, not less.

With the count near over, I (@Lance4CASuper) have the votes to move to the General Election in Nov & face @TonyThurmond to be the next Superintendent of Public Instruction. I look forward to several vigorous, substantive debates. Let's #addparents into the education equation.

Well, well, well, @SarahHaynesCA, would you look at that? The gas companies are finally getting the message out there that government makes more of a profit on fuel sales than the gas stations.

This is not a serious discussion on a state budget that has grown from $99.8 bil (GF) in FY 2013-14 to $230.9 bil (GF) in FY 2023-24. What he meant to say is that they are going to: -defer costs -delay payments to contractors -shift invoices to next FY -force municipalities & school districts they owe money to for state mandates to take out temporary loans -pull money from pension paydown & -other other questionable gimmicks. CA's state budget more than DOUBLED in a decade & our state is worse off in every metric.
We're cutting the budget deficit by $17.3 billion. Today, along with legislative leaders, we signed an early action budget agreement that positions California to pass a balanced budget in June that protects key programs Californians rely on.

Not a single protestor would ride the train from Merced to Bakersfield.
How much of a boondoggle is CA's bullet train? In 2008, it was promised to connect SF to LA by 2020 for $33 billion. Now, the hope is that it can connect Merced to Bakersfield by 2033 & the project is $100 billion over budget. Officials hope full length done in next 20 YEARS

I just finished reading through a fairly grotesque teen fiction book which is required reading for a 9th grade leadership class in a Placer County school district. It has zero academic value or redeeming qualities, but the "don't-ban-books" crowd (the ones who never seem to read anything in the first place) really loves child porn masquerading as fiction. As such, our elected officials are on full display as of late with selective outrage now that the jig is up. Just don't try and read these books in a public hearing; they'll shut you down for indecency. So, I've come to the conclusion that we need a Prop 65 style warning, a rating system & list of "ingredients" for every book in our public school. AI could do this in short order. As the California legislature requires all manner of products to be labeled so people can make informed choices about the things they consume, parents should know what is going into their children’s minds. We need a comprehensive database for parents a place to find out how much indulgent sex, illicit drug use, gender-bending situations, violence, rape and profanity is in the books these kids are increasingly required to read. This should satisfy the licentious free-speech absolutists and woke scolds (it might even be good advertising for their unreadable grift). And for those parents who believe their kids should read salacious books, they can march down to the library and get it from behind the counter for them. Any takers from my #caleg friends? #thereoughttobealaw

I met RFK for the first time probably 20 years ago when he came to testify in the California State Senate on water pollution issues. He was hailed the environmental hero of the progressive left & while I didn't agree with his specific policies, I nonetheless found him to be a genuine & affable guy. We would meet again a few years later when concerns over certain chemicals became an issue, but he started to step away from the radical left personalities & his star flickered a bit. I am not surprised at the attention he is now getting as I watch him now with different eyes & he's speaking in a way that appeals to millions of Americans spurned by the partisanship in our country. While I still have some profound differences with RFK Jr, he's a very effective communicator. Democrats should be concerned that he will pull votes from their candidate in November if he keeps putting these kinds of messages. This is everything that Biden ignored or dismissed in his message last night. Republicans would also do well to understand how he's appealing to the disaffected within their ranks.

A few thoughts on the state maintaining spending of just under $23k per student in public schools, per the Governor in his #cabudget May Revision presentation. 1. The governor talks about the splendor of a government school system that he & his wife choose not to participate in. I'm fine with their decision, but he is not sympathetic to parents who want the same options but lack the resources because of the inhospitable economy state leadership forces upon us. 2. He's pushing for a "whole community" effort and bragging about reducing the ages of kids getting into government school to age 4. Again, his kids aren't involved there. Will no one ask him why he and his wife don't send their kids to a school system he boasts about for everyone else? 3. In an average classroom size of 25, that's around $575k to pay for everything. There's no reason that we can't pay good teachers more for better outcomes. One of the Governor's top funders, the teachers' unions, do not want that to happen. 4. In terms of reparations, the best thing the state could do is improve our schools for young, Black children, especially boys. I would argue that education reform needs to be a top priority, yet despite all his talk about spending more on education than any of his predecessors (including prominent progressives like Jerry Brown), he couldn't name a single academic metric that has been improved with the money spent. 5. The governor keeps throwing out the cannard of conservatives banning books to cover for the fact that the state is still 50th in the USA on literacy. So, maybe more attention to core competencies like reading and fewer red-herrings. I'll offer more thoughts in the coming days.

An 18 year old male high school student is a legal adult. If he thinks that he's gender fluid, he can change in the locker room with a 14 (or younger) freshman or middle schooler who might be on their team.
