Crowds like this would’ve been normal in Oakland if ownership wasn’t garbage for 30 seasons straight. 30 seasons of low payroll, relocation threats, no commitment to the city or community, poor treatment of fans, and constant rising ticket prices. Never forget what A’s owners & MLB did to this fanbase.

Goodbye Coliseum: The End of Oakland A’s Baseball

The final series of the A’s playing in both Oakland and the Coliseum begins tonight. Here is what EVERYONE needs to remember ⬇️ Never forget the A’s would’ve had a new stadium in Oakland 20 years ago had Bud Selig not blocked the sale of the A’s to Andy Dolich and Bob Piccinini in 1999. Never forget Selig also blocked sales to Joe Lacob, Peter Guber, Reggie Jackson/Bill Gates, etc. Never forget Steve Schott and Ken Hofmann made zero effort to build in Oakland from 1995-2005. Instead they commissioned a study on Vegas and then invested all their time in Santa Clara. Never forget the A’s are only owned by John Fisher because they were sold to him and his business partner Lew Wolff only because Wolff was a college buddy and old friend of Selig. Never forget Lew Wolff’s 2005 plan for a ballpark in Oakland was nonsensical and would’ve required evicting 80+ tenants and building a new BART station. The plan was immediately abandoned by the A’s. Never forget the A’s wasting the remainder of 2005 all the way to 2009 on Fremont and then 2010 to 2016 on San Jose. Never forget the A’s nonsensical Peralta site plan in 2017 where the A’s failed to talk to the college board prior to the announcement. Never forget the A’s choosing Howard Terminal in November 2018, and insisting on the most complex project possible ($12 billion with TONS of ancillary development). Oakland did everything that was asked of them, yet the A’s moved the goalposts every time. The A’s also dragged their feet and missed deadlines. The A’s also refused to compromise on anything, including with their potential maritime neighbors. Never forget the Coliseum site was an “assured backup route for a ballpark in Oakland”, and MLB threatened to relocate the A’s if Oakland didn’t sell their half of the site and didn’t drop their lawsuit against Alameda County (who had violated Surplus Land Act with their sale of their half), but when Oakland dropped the suit, Oakland began talks to sell their half with the A’s, and Alameda County’s sale went through, the Coliseum was suddenly “not viable”. Never forget there is PROOF the A’s made up their mind to go to Vegas in 2021, and wasted 2 years of Oakland’s time and money on the Howard Terminal project. When the A’s realized Oakland was close to a deal, thanks to Oakland’s hard work on the project, the A’s ran away from the negotiating table and did so in the most unprofessional manner possible. Never forget ancillary development was always a must for a Oakland ballpark, but it isn’t for them in Vegas. Never forget the A’s had to own the site & ballpark for a Oakland ballpark, but they don’t need to in Vegas. Never forget Fisher wasn’t willing to sell a stake in the team in Oakland to get a ballpark done there, but he’s willing to do so for Vegas. TLDR: It’s always been John Fisher, other A’s owners, and MLB at fault. Theres MOUNTAINS of evidence! If you are still blaming Oakland or A’s fans, you are being willfully ignorant!

Just got home. Here are some thoughts of mine: What an emotionally exhausting day. Fought back tears many times. Physically exhausted too. According to my phone, I walked over 16 miles in the last 30 hours. Running on 3 hours of sleep. The positive though, was all the awesome people I got to meet and hang out with the last 2 days. It was also great to see a packed Coliseum again. Overall, I was pleased (but not surprised) with how well behaved us fans were during the last game. Yeah, a few clowns threw some stuff on the field, but it was pretty minimal with all things considered, and only 2 people ran onto the field (and they obviously weren’t trying to harm anyone). Definitely squashed the A’s fear mongering BS about the players being in danger! Shoutout to the A’s players and coaches for ignoring the orders of A’e executives and taking some time with us on the field after the game! Want to give a thank you to Coliseum employees, who did their best despite the difficult circumstances. I wish them all well in their future endeavors. Couldn’t stay at The Wake for that long unfortunately. One of my friends drank too much and I had to make sure they were alright and got home safely. Today was such a great example of why I love Oakland fans so much. My drunk friend planned all along to meet up with me at the game, but we ended up having another friend (@daftkid_d) with us the whole day, someone that I had just met that morning by striking up a conversation while in line. Want to give a huge shout out to @VickDamoneHost who was able to give us a ride to Line 51 after the game. We spent 30 minutes trying to get on BART but it wasn’t going well 😂 Just want to state that Oakland fans are the absolute best. Despite the grave circumstances, I think a lot of us had some great moments today, which was made possible by the amazing Oakland fanbase. Also, I’ve received tons of new followers recently. I also have a lot of DMs and literally thousands of unread notifications. It is going to be difficult to try and get through all of that, so if I haven’t followed you back, haven’t responded to your DM, or you have a question I didn’t respond to or you tagged me in something, please let me know in the comments on THIS post! I want to follow everyone back and make sure I hear what everyone has to say! Lots of thoughts I still need to process, so I’ll end it with this: OAKLAND FOREVER, and fuck John Fisher!

LDB isn’t joking here. This may be the actual reason. I’m aware theres many players on A’s roster who side with us fans, want A’s in Oakland, and want Fisher out. A’s are 100% petty enough to retaliate, no matter how talented player is. Not like A’s care about winning anyways!

Keep speaking out against the injustices! Vegas is very far from a sure thing and the Sacramento plan is equally problematic. If the media and fans keep ripping John Fisher to this extent, eventually MLB will HAVE to do something. The other owners don’t want to take this kind of damage to MLB for an extended period on a national scale. Keep fighting and don’t let up!!!

“We proposed and pursued five different locations in the Bay Area” 2 of which weren’t even in Oakland. Of the 3 in Oakland, 2 were so nonsensical that they were immediately abandoned within months. And lastly we have Howard Terminal. An intentionally complex proposal from the A’s in which they dragged their feet, missed deadlines, moved the goalposts, and refused to compromise with all parties involved. Despite all that, Oakland was close to approving the project, and since we know John Fisher has never wanted to be in Oakland, it was no surprise when he ran away from the negotiating table. Nobody wants to hear this BS from you John Fisher. You’re one of the worst owners in the history of sports. We will certainly NOT be joining your “beloved A’s” moving forward!🖕

It’s no secret Bud Selig hated that the A’s were in Oakland and wanted them out of there. It’s why he blocked sale after sale of the A’s from 1999-2005 until his college buddy Lew Wolff got together with John Fisher to buy the team and move them out of there. Selig was unsuccessful buying the A’s in 1967 (he planned to move them to Milwaukee), and has held a grudge against Oakland ever since. Bud Selig belongs in prison, not the hall of fame. Things like this are why MLB needs stripped of their anti-trust exemption.

Today is 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 the last day of the Oakland A’s. It goes without saying it did not have to be this way. Decades of terrible ownership by John Fisher, Lew Wolff, Steve Schott, and Ken Hofmann (with Charlie Finley having laid the blueprint for them) and collusion by MLB (thanks to Bud Selig’s 50+ years of hatred for Oakland and Rob Manfred being completely spineless) ultimately did the A’s in. No one else is to blame. That’s all that needs to be said, other than to keep fighting, because things definitely aren’t over yet!

REMINDER: Do NOT throw trash on the field or cause any damage to the Coliseum! It’s just plain wrong to make the employees clean up trash on their last shift. The Coliseum will also be used by the Roots next year, and remember, the A’s don’t even own the Coliseum either. Plus, the A’s would absolutely love for Oakland fans to cause a scene—that would give them the perfect excuse to tarnish our reputation and undo the respect we’ve earned. If we make it through this game without any incidents, that’s a massive victory. After all the A’s fear-mongering, it’ll prove it was all just talk, and we kept our dignity intact. I don’t watch MLB anymore, but let me just say this: When I was younger, I always thought baseball should have a salary cap and despised big spenders like the Yankees. After what I went through as an A’s fan though, the argument everyone should be having is for a salary FLOOR. There are no “good” owners in my opinion (30-0 approval for A’s relocation), but some owners are better than others, and if you spend a lot on payroll and show a commitment to your town and fanbase, you’re a thousand times better than owners like John Fisher. Any MLB owner can have a payroll like the Yankees or Dodgers, it’s just a matter of most owners choosing not to do so. Related: Fuck John Fisher.

It’s been one year since the Reverse Boycott! One of most amazing experiences I’ve ever been a part of. 32,639 fans packed the Coliseum (real attendance number that A’s suppressed). The “Sell the team” chants in the top of the 5th was the loudest I’ve ever heard the Coliseum.

More in Vegas are beginning to realize what a joke the A’s, John Fisher, and Dave Kaval are. Tom Letizia is well-known and respected in the Las Vegas community. Thanks to @oaklandfans for the find.

If Dave Kaval feels like he can still attend public events, we aren’t applying enough pressure. He should be ashamed to show his face anywhere in the Bay Area.

OAKLAND FANS, REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE THE GREATEST FANS IN THE WORLD! To change the national narrative is a nearly impossible task, but through our work we have shown the entire world that John Fisher was ALWAYS the problem and it was NEVER A’s fans or Oakland! It has been an INCREDIBLE honor to get to personally know so many of you. I am so unbelievably proud to call you my friends. Stopping a relocation is an impossible task, but we put up a hell of a fight! Take pride in the fact that we showed the world what our fanbase is capable of and what we’re about! We changed the narrative, we have shown that John Fisher is one of the worst owners in the history of pro sports, and we have done a great job warning Sacramento and Vegas residents about what *may* be coming their way. We have made John Fisher so incredibly radioactive that no investors will even touch him for his Vegas ballpark! While the A’s may be out of Oakland for 2025, Vegas is unbelievably shaky and far from a done deal, and there are extreme doubts about the A’s playing in Sutter Health Park. So you know what? KEEP UP THE FIGHT! I love you all, keep fighting, and OAKLAND FOREVER! #OaklandForever #OaklandNeverQuits

John Fisher and Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim began discussions in 2021 about partnering for a ballpark in Las Vegas. During these talks, Kim asked if the A’s were sure they were moving to Vegas, and the A’s confirmed they were—something Kim disclosed in an interview earlier this year. John Fisher defrauded Oakland of tens, if not hundreds, of millions by pretending the A’s were still committed to the Howard Terminal project. The city wasted significant time and money trying to push the project forward, unaware that the A’s had already decided to leave. Given Oakland’s financial struggles post-pandemic, that money could have been better spent on essential services. Soo Kim is equally complicit. He knew the A’s were done with Oakland as early as 2021 but kept quiet, only revealing the truth later. Fisher, Kim, and others, like Dave Kaval, withheld this crucial information to use Oakland as leverage for a better deal in Vegas. In my view, they should all be held accountable.

A thread I think most baseball fans will enjoy: Highlights from all 20 games of the 2002 Oakland A’s 20 game win streak. Great calls from Bill King, Ken Korach, Ray Fosse, and Greg Papa. Enjoy! Game 1 August 13th, 2002 (1/20)

I can’t even put into words how emotionally difficult this is for me being here tonight. I’m going to be a wreck tomorrow. The guy a few seats from me is screaming about the A’s poor performance tonight. I miss caring about the score 😕 FJF forever and always!

You think things the problems are bad for the A’s in Vegas? Just wait until you hear about the problems they’re having in Sacramento! 👀

Comments like this really demonstrate that Walter Haas understood what sports and being an owner was really about. He was truly one of the greatest owners in sports history, and the only good owner the A’s have ever had. I’m glad he’s not around to see what awful things John Fisher has done to the team, community, and fans that Haas cared so deeply about. His son, Wally Haas, has called what Fisher has done “unforgivable”.

Since Josh Donaldson announced his retirement today, let’s take a moment to remember when the A’s traded him in one of the worst trades of all time just a week after he made some comments critical of A’s ownership!

Fact 31: In 2014, the A’s traded Josh Donaldson to the Blue Jays after he had made comments on Twitter that were critical of John Fisher’s ownership just a week earlier.

“It’s probably gonna suck” -Lawrence Butler You really feel for the players being stuck playing in an inadequate AAA ballpark on artificial turf in hot temperatures. The visiting clubhouse will be past left field with the home club house past center field. It’s unacceptable.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking seeing posts like this. John Fisher deserves every ounce of failure and disgrace that has come and is still to come. May it haunt him relentlessly for the rest of his days, and may historians forever view him with the utmost disgust and contempt.

Has nothing to do with it
The final series of the A’s playing in both Oakland and the Coliseum begins tonight.

1 week until the final Oakland A’s home game 💔 This will be one of the most unpopular relocations in sports history, and John Fisher will go down as one of the worst owners in sports history. His utter disregard for Oakland & its fans won’t be forgotten. We’ll make sure of it!
