People on the internet have harassed him for 7 months. He’s done nothing but give thanks and give back. He had the most traumatic incident of his life publicized for millions of people facing thousands of hateful comments. Hopefully this let’s you see how real this all was.

My stepfather, Todd unfortunately passed away a few days ago. He was the closest person to me. He entered my life when I was 4 and raised me. He was an incredible man who saved my mom and me from a terrible situation. I wouldn't be where I am today without him. However, in Todd's final months, he felt betrayed by @ConnectWise , the company to which he had dedicated so much time. He had won numerous awards for the company and never took time off. Despite having a remote job and still being able to perform his tasks, he wanted to inform the company about his stage 4 cancer diagnosis out of respect. ConnectWise immediately placed him on paid leave, and once that ended, he lost his health and life insurance. He hadn't heard from the company's management either, having only the standard conversation with HR. ConnectWise didn't break any laws. They likely followed their usual protocol. However, that's my issue. The way corporations handle these situations is morally corrupt. We aren't seeking money from ConnectWise. What Todd, my mom and I hoped for was that the multi-billion-dollar company would treat my dying stepfather like a human being. They discarded him as if he meant nothing to them. My goal here is to hopefully get companies like ConnectWise to change their policies around employees who are diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

Just a reminder that Damar is not asking for all the media coverage and taking it out on him is lame. Yes, it’s excessive. He didn’t ask for any of this. He’s only ever been focused on doing good. How you view this situation says a lot about you. If you lack empathy and emotional intelligence, you’ll discount the amount of adversity it took to overcome death and only look at on-field performance. But this is an adversity award. It’s not a most improved award.

If someone from your hometown is doing well & your first reaction is to hate then you’re probably insecure about where you’re headed.

I was also able to give my grandma rent & grocery money for a couple months. She’s the most selfless person & has struggled since not being able to work. I’m only posting these bc I dreamed of doing it this and hope anyone out there dreaming can have this feeling one day.

He’s at an event now announcing a program to create a community for people who have had heart issues. He gave out over 250 AEDs last year. He’ll do the same this year. And more. Everyone involved was a hero in various ways.

It’s crazy to think that schools weren’t required to have AEDs… That changes starting today thanks to Damar and his partners. Every school will have access to AEDs now. Suddenly cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death for youth. This helps save lives.

We have a response from @Connectwise and its a boilerplate response that lacks empathy. Their communications strategy is to delete, block, and wait for it to go away. Just a heads up - I’m not going away. I want Connectwise to set up a fund for any of their employees diagnosed with cancer. It could be a great opportunity for them.

NFBD has received a $75,000 grant from the @StauntonFarm to create a 10-part video series interviewing celebrities on mental health. I've been working on this concept for over 2 years. To finally receive the recognition and resources is really exciting.
