Family Man. Mets Fan. Filmmaker. Showrunner.
72 Hours - Coming July 24th on Netflix!
Cobra Kai. Obliterated. Harold & Kumar. Blockers. American Reunion. Plan B.
We’re matchmakers first, showrunners second. Our primary goal with Cobra Kai was for Daniel LaRusso’s daughter and Johnny Lawrence’s son to fall in love in real life. Mission accomplished. So happy for them! A perfect couple! #CobraKai#TrueLove
Our entire Karate Kid/Cobra Kai family is devastated by the news of OG Cobra Rob Garrison's passing. He was a truly gifted performer and an even better man. My heart goes out to Rob's family during this difficult time. #RIP
Goodbye for now, Mr. & Mrs. LaRusso. This was the moment after Ralph & Courtney finished filming their final scene for Cobra Kai in Atlanta. Not a lot of eyes were dry. #CobraKai#BehindTheScenes
Dutch may have been the purest Cobra of them all. Merciless and dangerous through and through. That’s what we loved about him. And it was all because of Chad McQueen’s performance.
When interviewing writers for Cobra Kai, if the candidate didn’t know who Dutch was, it was an uphill battle for them. If they brought him up unprompted, their chances of making the staff skyrocketed. Dutch was that important to us.
We always wanted Chad McQueen to appear on the show. And it almost happened a couple of times. Chad was torn. His racing injuries limited his capabilities, but he loved the idea of playing again with his pal, @william_zabka. They had so much fun together while making Karate Kid.
Before Season 6, word got to us that Chad had decided he was ready to join the party. Josh, Hayden, and I drove out to his ranch to meet him in person for the very first time. He and his family greeted us warmly. He was as unique and hilarious as we’d heard from Billy all these years.
He took us on a tour of his property and showed us some of the most incredible film and racing memorabilia we’d ever seen in person. The love and respect he had for his father’s work was beautiful to witness.
We left Chad’s place excited and determined to make Dutch’s return special. And yes, we dropped his name in episode 602 partly to keep him fresh in the audience’s mind. We wrote a scene for him much later in the season. Dutch was still badass. The scene had pathos. It would have blown young Jon, Josh, and Hayden’s minds.
Unfortunately, Chad was unable to join us when it came time to shoot. At the end of the day, it wasn’t meant to be. But Dutch will always be remembered as a badass’ badass in the Miyagiverse. He kicked ass. He hated “Danielle.” And he loved riding bikes with his boys.
The fandom mourns a Karate Kid legend today. I’m so grateful I had the honor of spending an afternoon with him. Sending much love and strength to his wonderful family. May Chad rest in peace.

William Zabka: Director. And a damn great one he is. Most people just think of Billy as a badass actor. But did you know he was nominated for an Academy Award for a short he wrote and produced? Billy’s a filmmaker in every sense of the word. He can truly do it all. (You should see the edits he’d send us off of monitor footage!)
We always wanted to find an opportunity for Billy to direct on Cobra Kai, but he was in so many scenes and had so many fights to train for that it was virtually impossible for him to have had enough time to prep given our insanely rushed and his insanely packed schedule.
Due to constraints with our All Valley Sports Arena location, the final episode we actually filmed in Atlanta was 612. With Billy’s heaviest lifting in front of the camera behind him, this was the perfect time for him to finally direct. It also just felt fitting to end with Billy, since his talents were what inspired the show in the first place.
What a joy it was for the entire cast and crew. And we all love the episode he delivered. Still wish we could have afforded Lunatic Fringe for the opening scene like he wanted, but those are the kinds of compromises you need to make when producing a 37 minute action series on a 22 minute comedy budget.
We can’t wait for Billy to direct for us again in the future. Only next time, we promise to give him some serious fight scenes to attack. That’s his bread and butter and we know they’ll kick as much ass as he did as Johnny Lawrence!

In our first call with @tigianpage talking about a potential Terry Silver return, we asked him how his kicks were looking. A day later, he sent us this. Needless to say, we knew the Valley would never be the same. #cobrakai#netflix#behindthescenes@CobraKaiSeries
You know it's a good day when Chozen is trending on Twitter. How badass and hilarious was @YujiOkumoto in Season 5? Tell me your favorite Chozen moment. **Expect spoilers in the replies.** #CobraKai#Netflix#Chozen
I love this rivalry. Wonder if they’ll ever meet again. In the meantime, Cobra Kai’s final episodes are streaming on Netflix NOW! #CobraKai#IronDragons
To those who voted for Trump, I hope the Biden years are better for you than what you're expecting. I hope he earns your trust through his hard work, kindness, and genuine desire to help us all. To the portion who are racist, anti-Semitic, or homophobic, eat shit. Then be better.
At midnight tonight (PST), Johnny and Daniel return to the dojo for the very last time. Please join us for the epic conclusion of Cobra Kai on Netflix. If you saw the Karate Kid in 1984 or anytime since, you’re not going to want to miss this. #CobraKai#Netflix#strikefirststrikehardnomercy#waxonwaxoff
I know it’s weird to have no new Cobra Kai this New Years. It’s weird for us too. If you missed S5 in September, now is your time. A rewatch binge also scratches the itch. As for a return to the dojo, you’ll know more soon. Patience, Daniel-San. For now, have a kickass New Year!
It’s surreal that S3 is finally coming out tomorrow. This pic was taken August 29, 2019, right before our shoot. It’s been quite a ride since. Grateful to be ringing in the New Year with you all tomorrow night on @Netflix. Here’s to some victories for all of us in 2021. #CobraKai
Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai has one of the best character arcs I’ve ever seen. I’m sad the series is over now. But I’ll always appreciate the journey it took to get to the finale. Give Zabka his Emmy.
1 Final Season.
3 Distinct Chapters.
15 Episodes.
We know the fans aren’t ready to say goodbye. Neither are we. That’s why our final season is like three seasons in one. Let’s savor it. Together. Can’t wait for you all to return to the dojo!
First batch drops July 18th!

I'll never forget how moved the entire cast and crew was by Rob's brilliant and heartfelt performance by the campfire. I'll also never forget the laughs we shared later that night over beers as the gang told stories, including some gems Rob had from the set of Iron Eagle.
In about a day and a half, Cobra Kai Season 4 drops simultaneously all around the world on Netflix! Here’s a cheat sheet to see what time it’ll be in your time zone! Binge first, binge hard, and with No Mercy! #cobrakai#netflix
RIP to a legend. It was an honor for the entire Cobra Kai family whenever Mr. Asner visited our dojo. His sense of humor was contagious both on and off camera. Here he is keeping things light on our very first day of production. My deepest condolences to his loved ones. #edasner
For many of us, Daniel and Kumiko was one of the great romances of our childhoods. To reunite these characters as adults in Season 3 was an absolute joy. @thetamlyntomita is a treasure and such a caring collaborator. @ralphmacchio had a smile on his face all week. #CobraKai
EXCLUSIVE: Check out the Mock Trailer that helped us sell Cobra Kai!
In 2017, we had the daunting task of trying to explain to buyers in Hollywood what we envisioned Cobra Kai to look and feel like. Sure, we had a detailed pitch and Ralph Macchio and William Zabka joining us in pitch meetings, but the tone of our show was going to be so specific that we wanted to do our best to show streamers how they could potentially sell the overall story and vibe of Cobra Kai.
Without actually filming the show, our task was near impossible and it was never going to be perfect, but with the help of our incredibly talented editor friend @JeffYorkes, we cobbled together footage from Ralph and Billy’s prior work, mixed it was other images that helped tell our story, and threw Thunderstruck under it. We showed this sizzle in all of our pitch meetings to set the tone. But now for the very first time right, I’m sending it to the internet!
A couple fun facts…
1) We had different versions of this sizzle tailored for each buyer we went to. This one mentions Netflix, but when we were meeting at YouTube, it said YouTube. Hulu it said Hulu. And so on.
2) We became absolutely obsessed with Thunderstruck from watching this trailer over and over again and always wanted to have it on the show. But it was so expensive, we couldn’t afford it. Instead we had Johnny mention it in passing as a meta nod when he wanted to advertise the dojo in S2. When making S6, we were determined to finally use the song when Johnny and Miguel took back Cobra Kai, so we saved money in other areas of our budget to make it happen. I’m so glad we did!

Special love to all the father figures out there today. You don’t have to be blood related to make a positive impact on a young person’s life. #FathersDay#CobraKai#KarateKid
We hate to strike, but if we must, we strike hard. Pencils down in the Cobra Kai writers room. No writers on set. These aren't fun times, but it's unfortunately necessary. The moment a fair deal is in place, we'll get back to kicking ass. In the meantime, sending strength and support to the negotiating committee. You got this. #WGA#WGAStrong#writersstrike
Cobra Kai Season 6 writers room squad! Love spending my days with these people! (But we may need to thin the herd, so we don’t completely block the Eagle Fang van in our next group picture.) #CobraKai#Netflix
I’ve seen the Cobra Kai S5 trailer and I’m obsessed. Perfectly sets the tone, without ruining all the surprises. This one feels like a different (but same) kind of 80s movie. September 9th can’t come soon enough! #CobraKai#Season5#Netflix
Some of us at @CobraKaiSeries have a new favorite hockey team. Much love to the @Capitals for awarding Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do headbands to their offensive and defensive players of the game. #GoodCoaching#CobraKai#Netflix
**Spoilers**
I would imagine they eventually learned of Kreese and Silver’s deaths, but it would be impossible for them to know exactly what went down on that yacht. Johnny was already at peace with Kreese and both Johnny and Daniel knew that Silver was already dying. Most important to us was for Kreese to selflessly sacrifice himself to protect Johnny. He didn’t need credit or appreciation. He just needed to do the right thing. #CobraKai
It’s been a bittersweet day, but far more sweet than bitter thanks to the best fandom on the planet. Your love for Cobra Kai has always been humbling, but the messages today have been especially kind. Thank you! We can’t wait to deliver you the epic finish you deserve! #CobraKai
All good things must come to an end. On February 13th, Cobra Kai’s final episodes drop on Netflix. If you’ve ever seen The Karate Kid, I promise this is an event you won’t want to miss. #CobraKai#Netflix
I'm heartened to know how much Rob enjoyed and cherished his time working on Cobra Kai. We were looking forward to seeing his smiling face again this season, as we had plans for Tommy to ride again. But he'll remain in our thoughts every day as we strive to make him proud. #RIP
This is the weekend you watch Cobra Kai Season 5. Come on — all the cool kids (and their middle aged friends) are doing it! #CobraKai#Netflix#behindthescenes
Living that Sensei Kreese life. He came in with the cigar. He went out with the cigar. I’ll miss writing monologues for Martin Kove. His performance is one of my favorite things on Cobra Kai.
This might be my favorite photo from our Season 6 wrap party. It was certainly one of my favorite moments — celebrating with OG Cobras and our bad ass leaders of the stunt team. Feels apropos on a night like tonight. Thank you, Marty.

On this date in history, the world met Johnny Lawrence — riding on his Honda XL 600R, wearing that iconic snake patch, representing the most badass dojo in the Valley — Cobra Kai Karate. Moments later, he spotted a punk from New Jersey flirting with his girl down on the beach and an epic rivalry was born.
Forty years later, it remains this Jersey punk’s greatest honor to continue telling Johnny and Daniel’s stories alongside @healdrules, @McSchlossberg, our talented team, our amazing cast, and of course the legends — @ralphmacchio, @WilliamZabka, and @MartinKove.
On July 18th, the saga continues on @netflix, with more fun to follow on Thanksgiving, and again next year. When it’s all said and done, that beach skirmish will have been responsible for 65 episodes of television. Dying for you to see how this story ends. And looking forward to where the Miyagiverse will take us next!

October 6, 2017. Day 3 of our Season 1 shoot, but Ralph Macchio’s first time playing Daniel LaRusso since the 80s. We were all pinching ourselves behind the camera. Still one of my favorite days on set!

Terry Silver’s dream is a reality. Cobra Kai is officially the #1 dojo (and series) in the world! S4 had over 120 Million hours viewed in our first 3 days! Not too shabby for a half-hour show. Thanks for binging first, binging hard, and with no mercy! We love you all! #CobraKai
If you thought these guys were competitive on the show, you haven’t seen them off camera. This is @jb_mixmatch and @_TannerBuchanan seeing who can jump higher between takes. It was a draw, but neither of them would agree. #CobraKai#Netflix#behindthescenes
I’m so proud of these karate kids! Watch them kick ass (and get their asses kicked) on Netflix this weekend! Season 6 Part 2 is live NOW! #CobraKai#BehindTheScenes#Netflix
