Despite the challenges of covid, it’s been a special week for me @UCC ! As the sun sets, I wish to say a huge thanks to all the kind wishes I received on my appointment this week @UCC . I am excited to lead an amazing team of committed colleagues & students.
On my first day as @UCC President I received a beautiful and generous gift from @jpquinn78 and his dear wife Belcy- which I will treasure. It is now sitting in the window of my office. The beautiful piece is titled ‘the flame of learning’. That we may all continue to learn.

The university was formally opened on 7 November 1849 by the first president, Robert Kane. Queen's College Cork initially opened with 23 professors & 115 enrolled students. The 3 founding faculties of the new college were Medicine, Arts & Law.
