This is a specific post for those arguing for Air Canada's prices coming out of NWT. Let's rewind a bit to the pandemic in full swing. Airlines were bolstered with millions in grants and subsidized heavily to a 100% of their operating costs, courtesy of the taxpayers. Fleeing a crisis today, a life threatening situation, should cost exactly $0.00. That's my opinion and I stand by it. I don't want to spend my time explaining such recent history. Grandkids walked to Dollar Store and there was a few non Indigenous people who were holding up an older Indigenous man who had fallen on the road. They intervened and helped the man to where he could stand and wait while they called me. The man, 'Frank,' a residential school survivor, shared a bit of his story. He had tears in his eyes, and he had been drinking. He said he can't stop anymore and I asked if he thought to go to detox, he agreed. We got there and he changed his mind. So he made me drive him a bit further from there, telling me a bit about his life. My heart hurts for my own nations, who can't overcome. They should be fishing, on the land, happy. Canada, the most important part of today's hate rallies is this one thing I can't get out of my head. Those kids they brought. The kids had no choice but to learn what the poisonous soul of their parents are teaching them. They will one day see, but today, they are the front lines. The cowards are proud of what they have done. Every single child who was there today, has parents. Those parents should have a visit from child and family services. The reason for this would be an open crime of hate. It shouldn't weight less than having them sell drugs in school by law, but for some reason, it is waved off like it doesn't matter. A crime. An open crime. Think about this. And the kids of the new arrivals to Canada, maybe these things should be considered and weighed for citizenship. The potential for violence is real. Just my thoughts as I end this day. It's open and clear, but will there be any action. Good night to all, and of course, the greatest hope was the many who showed this darkness, so much love. Today, I want to share something with you that maybe helps you understand the crisis of MMIWG2S in this land. In 1986, my first child was born, her tiny little feet and hands, eyes like thunder clouds in the rain, softness and innocence. I can still close my eyes and feel her eyelashes on my cheek and her soft breathing in my arms. She was a bouncy, bossy little one filled with intellect and curiosity of all things. She loved her kokum, my mom, with adoration. The two never far apart. My mom adored her too. A grandchild she lived for. They got into trouble together, and spent many joyous moments together. As my daughter grew into a beautiful woman, an abuser took her youth. She gave birth to 4 beautiful children, all were her entire world. She was harmed so much by this man, he controlled every aspect of her life, using her love for her children to control her. She finally left him, struggled to find hope and safety for her and her children. Six months later, she left us forever. I love my child. No one had a right to remove her breath from her life. No one had the right to disregard conducting an investigation and then leaving her children in the hands of abusers. I fought hard to bring them home, but damage done by the carelessness of social services placement. Her life mattered to us, to those children who now can't really remember her face anymore. Two younger ones who were deprived of her kindness and love. WE are people, with heart, with spirit, with hope and with pain. We deserved to know who she was becoming. No child should ever leave before a parent, and MMIWG2S has impacts no one sees. This is one of them. She is missing from us. Forever. Value each daughter, she is our future.馃馃挃馃寧

I am going to share a story that haunted my mother, she was 5 at the time. In Delmas residential school, she and all the other kids were seated at the long, hard, and often dirty tables ( no matter how much the kids scrubbed them, the dirt and blood remained in the cracks) while dinner was taking place. Hunger was always an issue. These children, ages ranging from 4 to teen, were forced to pray while the nuns and priested feasted each evening. They could smell the fresh bread and meat, and their food, usually salt porridge or fish head soup and stale breads, sat in front of them. The growling little tummies and tears, and eyes never glancing at the table of feasting for fear of the thick leather belt or the long wooden sticks used on them until their little bones were heard cracking. My mom, was taken care of by an older girl, who she said, was 13 at the time this took place. She used to sing to her at night and comfort her when she was first taken to this cold, damp hell. During this meal, the kids, so hungry from working all day harvesting the garden they had taken care of, were tired and forced to pray while the nuns and priests filled themselves, butter, breads, vegetables and meat. Imagine what it took for that 13 year old to stand up mid prayer and yell at them? Imagine the courage. The head nun picked up a 2 X 4 by the wall and walked to her, striking her in the head. My mother watched as the girl slumped over and blood coming from the wound, died in front of her. The priest and nuns had the older boys dig her grave later that evening. A shallow hole where they didn't even bother to pray over her life, for her 'sin.' Anyone who doesn't believe these words, is the cruelest form of evil. I will always stand up to the deniers. Always. Our children deserve our bravery and our fight for them. If they were your family, what would you do? Tapwe馃馃挃

This beautiful woman is my mother. She was 4 when they took her residential school. She and all of her siblings. She never lit a braid of sweetgrass because the church was so effective at removing who they were and every single connection they had with one another. She lost her first children through the Scoop, and she endured more suffering in her lifetime than most I know. She was degraded beyond belief where we lived. She suffered from alcoholism and those torturous days of her own traumas unhealed would surface. I got to know her after I grew older, became a mother. She was a woman of immense spiritual power, all removed from her. She was a woman whose strengths carry me today when I want to burn down a society of hate. She didn't give a lot of love, because she was given any. She couldn't repair what they did to her. There was no place to turn to help her. I would ask one thing today, don't make me be silent about her. I respect your stories of your life, most often scroll by and say nothing. I ask you to silently scroll by if Indigenous women and our world is uncomfortable. We NEED to talk, we NEED to share. We NEED to heal our mothers too. Even if they are not with us. We just went to a small sewing store in the north end. Never experienced what I am going to share with you today. Never. We were buying ribbon and cloth to make my granddaughter's ribbon skirt she wants for Ceremony. We picked out our cloth and she wanted ribbon to match color on the cloth. We took our items up to the lady who cuts the fabric and she said, 'Why is everyone and their dog wanting to make their own ribbon skirts. I never saw this before, everyone is making them.' I was a bit stunned but explained that we all can make our own, we are just now beginning to reclaim this part of our culture. She was visibly upset and said, 'I always thought this was gifting thing, not just for everyone to make them.' I had to explain that we always made them, we just were not allowed to wear them all of the time because non Indigenous society did not want to see them on us. She again said, 'Well, I had one woman come in and say she had one for every day of the month. It's not right.' My granddaughter and I looked at each other and we took our fabric and both of us felt so damned looked down on. THIS is why we are reclaiming our cultures, and no amount of 'not right' and 'I am not happy with you people reclaiming your culture' or just not being okay with watching us rise to do this. Enough already. To see someone having such a hard time with Indigenous women reclaiming our ribbon skirts and our pride, was enough for this day. What is wrong with some people? I made an acquaintance angry at me for not wanting these sent to me each day. The extremists are infiltrating the Indigenous groups heavily and we all need to stop them. People don't even realize who is behind these movements of hate and many are too much in struggle and so desperate for equality on these lands, that they don't check sources or even care. If this is successful, it will create so much more harm to our nations. 馃挃馃

My kokum never spoke english. She never had one conversation with us, her grandchildren. Only smiles. I never had one talk with her, not even a sentence. This is one thing residential school stole; our languages. And with it, our bond with our ancestors. 馃挃馃

I encourage every single woman with greying or grey hair, to remember this on Bell 'Let's Talk Day' and know that the fears you had of growing older in today's world; were completely founded and supported by men such as this.

I told my grandkids who were all in the car, and they ran my warmer gloves inside to her. I am sharing this story because there are people who do not believe the homeless deserve care, or help. Systems must change in Sk., and we are all responsible for societal ill. I am not sure

Just a question; did @CTVNews or @globalnews or any other news outlet, even have one single interview from a survivor speaking about their experience on September 30? Just asking for over 4 million Indigenous people who want to know. I didn't see one, did anyone else?

All I could think of was to get me and the kids safe and far from them, they kept pretty close and the times they were further back from my speeding up, they caught up quickly anyway. They chased us. #IHateRacism

so damaged. So broken. She drank to forget, to drown out the memories. When she did, we suffered.. a lot. We grew up carrying it all too. Never easy days and so much to understand. I tried when I got older, but it was years and years of struggle to find ''normal''.

An officer using a bike to assault people is what everyone saw. Never once saw that on any convoy protestor to this point. Any explanation of that?

I never thought of myself as a survivor of MMIWG2S, but the truth is, I am. I was stalked by someone for over a year, grabbed, beated, head held down by my hair and driven out of the city. He kept telling me that I would never see the lights of the city again. Another time, beaten, violent SA, he slept behind me with a knife against my face all night until my face dried to the pillow with my blood. I escaped through a window, carefully to not wake him for more abuse. Police charged him with common assault, means he never laid a hand on me. Even police abuse. I was left on a highway on Christmas Day in rural SK., no traffic, over 45 km. from my home. I peeled the bottom of my feet off in one chunk from the blisters of frostbite. MMIWG2S and the racist systems that uphold the continued harms and death, must end. I watched as my own mother survived similar events. My daughters have. My granddaughters will be the 4th generation of such harm. Make them stop. Expose them with the truth, call it out. Racism has no place on Indigenous land and Canada and the entire Turtle Island, IS Indigenous land. Tapwe馃馃挃馃寧

How does a politician make $46 million in 4 years? Someone should be auditing Doug Ford. Seriously. He and his buddies in the Conservative party should all be under some scrutiny but media ignores it all.

Just saw some guy on CTV equating 'Every Child Matters' to kids wearing masks in schools. Anyone supporting this bunch is no friend to me. The use of our deceased children's platform is more than enough for me to want to distance myself from any person supporting this. A'Ho 馃

I wish people would just treat every living thing as a relative. And as a relative, love them. Even when they don't act, speak or do what you wish they would. I want to tell you all a story about something I never put out of my mind now. I can close my eyes and see every moment
