Addressing the situation surrounding the launch of the Pinkfong coin:
First, it is important to stress that this was an agreement strictly made between IP World and BBF Limited Foundation ("BBF"), a licensed partner of the Pinkfong Company. Story Protocol, the blockchain on which IP World operates, was never a party to this agreement nor was it in any way involved in these licensing matters. This was a private licensing matter between Pinkfong’s two licensees, BBF and BSUNIVERSE PTE. LTD. ("BSU"). Story Protocol provides the infrastructure, but it had no role in negotiating or validating IP rights.
As explained in the last statement made by @brainrotmanager, our verification process requires that full and valid IP rights are confirmed before an IP can be verified on-chain and its token allocation and fees unlocked for the rightful owner. During this final stage, BSU raised an objection to BBF’s license, which immediately halted verification and prompted us to get in touch with the Pinkfong Company to resolve the matter.
Before launch, IP World had executed a term sheet with BBF that explicitly included rights to use the Pinkfong mascot IP for a token launch and associated marketing which was carried out with endorsement from Pinkfong’s cofounder (who also mistakenly believed BBF’s license to be valid). On that basis, we, and the community, had every reason to believe the launch was fully authorized. It was only later that BBF themselves discovered they did not, in fact, hold the unilateral ability to grant these rights despite representing otherwise. Given that BBF was unclear as to the scope of their licensing rights, there was simply no way for us, or any outside party, to know that BBF did not in fact have clear rights to license the property.
Also because of this, our final IP verification did not go through, nor any creator fees paid out. This safeguard exists precisely to prevent IP misalignment in cases where post-launch disputes arise. This is not a flaw in the system, it is exactly why ip.world was built. Claiming or verifying an IP is a serious process involving potential monetary compensation, and our final-step due diligence ensures that any misrepresentation or dispute is caught before it can result in permanent harm.
We understand that many in the community joined believing this was an official collaboration. We share that frustration. We entered into an agreement with BBF with clear documentation, only to later find out that BBF lacked the rights they themselves thought they had.
We also recognize that we could have made it clearer from the start that until verification is complete, any IP should be considered provisional. That lack of clarity added to the confusion, and we take responsibility for that.
We are deeply sorry for the uncertainty and confusion this has caused. While this outcome is disappointing, it also reaffirms why IP World’s verification safeguards exist: to prevent misaligned IP claims from becoming permanent. To be absolutely clear, no creator fees have been paid out, and all accrued creator fees remain locked on the protocol and cannot be claimed until the rightful IP owner is confirmed.
Finally, it is important to note that because this token is on-chain, it will always exist. It is not officially authorized today, but the Pinkfong Company retains the ability to endorse and take ownership of it at any time in the future. All creator fees are locked on the protocol and remain claimable exclusively by the rightful IP owner, i.e., they can still be claimed if Pinkfong chooses to do so. If and until that occurs, the token contract remains unauthorized and the tokens remain unverified, with the creator allocation and all fees generated locked and unclaimable.
We know this situation has been disappointing for many. While we believe that safeguards prevented permanent harm, we understand the confusion may have resulted in a loss of trust and we, IP World, take sole responsibility for that. Our focus now is on clearer communication and doing the work needed to rebuild confidence over time.
