I will say that my dad had the streets behind him. He had 25+ years selling shammies (among other products) at home shows and boardwalks across the country. Vince was an outsider to the business who found a way to parody the format with big success. My dad took that personally.

The epilogue is that just over a year after my dad died, I went to an event in Vegas to accept a lifetime achievement award for him and Vince was there too. I’m like “oh shit, hope this isn’t awkward” but we met and Vince was super nice to me and said he was a huge fan of my dad.
