Boing! I managed to find a way to animate Sonic's spindash/jump without too much trouble. I used a similar method to SA1 and just turned down the transparency on the outer sphere model at random using a noise modifier.

My favorite and later additions was the Adventure Field transitions. The Egg Carrier level transition was the first one I worked on, and when I first implemented and included the unused audio, it sent chills down my spine. It's the little things that count.

One strange and intriguing thing I came across was when I unified Station Square into one whole map. I realized it made the map feel way smaller because in the original game, the loading screens between areas somewhat implied and gave the illusion that it was a much larger city.

I cringe every time I see this in a playthrough. Should've disabled it, but you can look around during this. Not many people realize that first time through. So instead of looking straight, you're left with an awkward angle of looking off to the side when you put on the helmet🤦‍♂️

Here's the original mocap data for reference. I imported the capture and just retargeted some Halo arms onto it, and then went to town with polish and stuff. Had to cut out a lot of keyframes for the camera😅

Yeah, about that...I animated the Titanfall 2 cinematics for console FOV in mind, and once I bumped it up I soon discovered a bunch of jank I hadn't intended the player to see😬😬😬
It's still crazy to see how scripted first person animations look and feel so different when the field of view is cranked up all the way! 😲 It's been an acquired taste as I know higher FOVs are generally preferred for a more competitive experience, just less cinematic IMO 🤔
