Today, I chaired a hearing in the House Science Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations on one of the most important tools Congress has to protect federal research funding: the False Claims Act. The federal government awards hundreds of billions of dollars in research grants every year. Some of that money is stolen or misused. The False Claims Act lets the government recover those funds and hold bad actors accountable. That is not a partisan position. That is basic fiscal responsibility. The American people deserve to know their tax dollars are funding real science, not fraud. This subcommittee will keep asking the hard questions until we get real answers.
