🎉Public testnet for the Nakamoto upgrade is here! 🎉
You can now test your smart contracts against major changes coming to Stacks with this upgrade, including the new pox-4 contract.
The Nakamoto upgrade is scheduled in 2 phases: instantiation and activation.
During instantiation (which launched today on testnet), the majority of Nakamoto code is shipped and the pox-4 contract is live, but the Nakamoto rules are not in effect, giving time for partners and Signers to onboard.
During activation (coming to testnet soon), the Nakamoto rules become active, enabling the full set of Nakamoto features, including Signer-based functions, faster blocks, and 100% Bitcoin finality.
With today’s testnet release, developers and partners can start interacting with the new Nakamoto network ahead of mainnet instantiation (scheduled for April 15-29).
