Welp, got blocked by Kramnik, who asked me to speak openly. So here goes 🙃
I have no hate for the world champion, only deep respect, but yes I've been baffled by his behavior over the last year.
Our intention w/ Dojo Talks was not to insult or label Kramnik as crazy, but rather express concern for what's going on. I think many of us, including myself, supported Kramnik's fight against online cheating for some time.
But then he started naming players left & right, some of whom were likely 100% innocent, who got their name dragged through the mud regardless. Kramnik also started naming actual children at one point, without any real evidence from what I could tell 🤷♂️
For me this is a real issue. When a player of Kramnik's stature calls someone suspicious, naive fans will immediately make up their mind.
And it's not "just asking questions", it's casting aspersions. And the words of any world champion obviously carry a lot of responsibility.
Whether it was his intention or not, Kramnik has convinced a significant number of people that Danya, Nakamura, Jospem, & other 'onliners' are all cheating. Many comments under Dojo's recent video have already condemned Danya and accuse us of spreading propaganda on his/Chess.com's behalf. Wild times.
So, no regrets for sticking up for Danya. As usual I'm just hoping for the best for everyone, including Kramnik, who I hope re-evaluates his methods. 💙
