Frozen USDC accounts is one thing. Having all your assets frozen because your account is linked to your real-world identity, way worse.
Today the US sanctioned Ethereum addresses associated w/ a privacy service called Tornado cash.

As CEO of @cheqd_io this might be heresy, but proposal for a new conference: "NIPA: No infrastructure / protocols allowed"🚫
Application-layer projects only with the ability to prove genuine users🧑💻, e.g. we'd present @Creds_xyz and our partners work instead of cheqd.
my main takeaway from @ethcc is that everyone is building their own slightly different infrastructure protocol, while the vast minority are actually building any apps to run on all of this infrastructure.
the sceptic in me realizes most of these people just want to get rich but i also recognize there are many genuinely necessary things being built, improvements being made, but it all just blurs together at some point
it’s easy to sell hopium to investors, literally you can make enough money to retire before launching *shit* so no wonder this is happening
it’s much harder to ship useful apps, plus when you ship an app you actually have to have real users and not airdrop farmers (running alongside their own bots like most every protocol is also doing)
it feels like living in some alternate universe sometimes where everyone is in this big circle jerk discussing hypothetical and theoretical situations that will happen magically but not so many are doing the actual work to ship apps anyone who is not completely autistic would want to use
this will make me unpopular in a lot of crypto circles where we’re all supposed to pump each others bags into oblivion and use our network as exit liquidity but fuck it i don’t really care
end of the day there are tons of genuinely great people in this space, some of my best friends i’ve had ever are here, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to make a great loving doing it. i just wish there were more smart people applying themselves to the application layer, realizing we may make less money but fuck it who cares we’re still doing better than most people in this world

The sheer amount of content was both incredibly ambitious but also a sign of how quickly things are moving in Europe!
🔍 Our event “Is verifying legal entities as easy as 1, 2, Web3?” took place yesterday, and was a rousing success.
Colleagues from across the Commission, along with representatives of industry, came together to explore the challenges of legal entity verification within and across borders, and the role that technology, including Web3, can play to tackle it 🌐
The potential of EU level developments (like the EU Company Certificate, the Digital Product Passport, and the EU Digital Identity Wallet) to transform legal entity verification was explored.
The potential that Web3 technologies can bring to these initiatives, as well as others, to offer more efficient, privacy-preserving, cost-efficient, and inclusive legal entity verification was also discussed in detail.

Hearing this (impersonated remote developers) from @ankurb and @EEAnder1 has been absolutely wild and a great example of why #creds are so crucial.

A cautionary tale about why we need ✨ Verifiable Reputation ✨ when hiring remote developers (because they could VERY LIKELY be North Korean state actors)...
You might think I'm being overly dramatic, but once you see the evidence laid out in this thread, it's not THAT big a leap to believing these were North Korean state-sponsored hackers, given this is a known modus operandi for the Lazarus Group.

Totally agree with an addition:
It's in the name: agen(t/cy). AI agents need agency, that disappears if they rely on PSPs / payment network they can be gate-kept from.
"Not your keys, not your crypto / data" applies to AI agents too. Exactly why we're so bullish on AI x crypto
AI agents aren't going to pay the 10 cents per transaction plus 2.5% that Visa charges.
That's why they'll use crypto.
Bank the robots.

16/ P.S. What throws me is the lack of depth in analysing alternatives before rejecting them and going net-new. Solved or solvable issues are treated as terminal which makes me think the solution came before the problem.
