If you haven't heard yet, our own @sarahwroblewski's little boy is going through the unexpected battle of childhood cancer
Please consider lending a helping hand to Sarah and her wonderful family during a tough time ❤️ #wbzgofundme.com/f/thumbs-up-for…
My wife got me one of those wifi enabled bird cam feeders for Father's Day and let me tell you...you haven't really lived until you fully embrace old man bird culture
Aurora color guide! What creates the different shades?
Different atoms getting "excited" at different altitudes
The bright reds are a sign of a particularly intense event
Today was a good day
Meet William Frederick Fisher. 8lbs 9oz, seems like a cool little man, and his big brother can't wait to meet him
The Fishers are now a fam of 4!
Never have I ever seen the #aurora so clearly in Boston. Wish I was somewhere rural at the moment, but man this is awesome (this was a little after 7p).
You know why fall is the best season? Because it lacks a type of day people complain about.
Rainy? Great I want to watch football and use a crock pot
Unusually warm? Nice one more beach day before it gets cold
Chilly? Sweet first fire in the fireplace
Crisp and sunny? 💯
More effects of all the cuts at NOAA/NWS, this from the NWS Sacramento office
No more answering phones
Limited staffing 6p-6a
Just one forecast discussion per day
Limited social media posting
Advisories mainly issued by day shift
Honored to hear I earned an Emmy for New England Meteorologist and another for #WBZ Team Coverage of the Cape Cod tornadoes. I voted for the other guy but I'll take it! #NEEmmy
In the Boston area, you've reached the darkest evening of the year. After today, we start gaining back evening light
Sunrises continue to get later until early January before turning around
This is a BIG #aurora forecast for tonight with it possibly rivaling the May event
G4 "severe" geomagnetic storm predicted with kP >8, and we will have mainly clear skies!
We were in the eye wall of Cat. 4 #Hurricane#Ian for over 5 hours and the back side was the worst.
I haven't experienced anything close to this in over 30 years @weatherchannel
I'm not sure the exact moment everyone lost their minds, but it's exhausting and unproductive to say the least. Certainly not helping the relief efforts in any way
Thanks for all the nice notes over the past 24 hours. And thanks to my #wbz friends and colleagues who were able to keep the secret embargoed for a couple months after this baby shower 😀
William was born at 4:44, def a Channel 4 kid
We got incredibly lucky with #Lee. Such small distances have tremendous affect on lives
Just ~100 miles west and this would have been our worst flood disaster since 1955...with outages for weeks
Cool shot of the northern lights over Boston early this morning from Bob Labrie.
Long exposure photography is needed to see it sometimes, but it's there! #wbz
Waking up in an #aurora haze this morning
Ask yourself...what two times you were most happy this year?
I'll bet two of them were the total solar eclipse and the aurora, because nature is amazing and so are shared experiences
Just turned my book in to the publisher. Let's hope I know what I'm doing or my writing career may be very brief 🤣
Look for it sometime in early 2021 ⚡❄🌊☀️
Today was the first day of the season where the peak sun angle is below 45º. Below that mark, the human body does not synthesize Vitamin D anymore. So no more "grab that vitamin D" via solar until March. #EatYourSeafood
Another day of watching more great scientists getting fired for pretty much nothing except taking a new job or getting promoted. The axe falling at NOAA/NWS today.
An absolute shame that will save us nearly nothing and lose us valuable services
Okay folks...we're in for a whopper. Big changes to inland areas as we're seeing a significant expansion of the heavier snowfall. Toughest part here on out is figuring out banding. Thinking two areas form...one well inland and the other along the South Shore. #Blizzard#wbz
Back to work today! So grateful for the family time at home. Hope more and more dads (and moms!) are offered the same opportunity. Time is precious and something you never get back. #wbz
I am certain that the people who spent time sending in nasty emails or tweets at 4pm this afternoon about no snow will be writing back in the morning to apologize. That's how it works, right?
Can't get enough of the satellite imagery today. #Teddy becoming a powerful extratropical cyclone and connected over several thousand miles to #Beta on the Gulf Coast by a front.
We are super excited to welcome our friend - and longtime supporter for whom we are grateful - @ericfisher to Tree House tomorrow for a signing of his first book:
Mighty Storms of New England
Congrats, Eric!

This is probably obvious, but what's the point of getting everyone vaccinated if we're still cancelling *outdoor* events in midsummer? And all restrictions end a few weeks after the 4th anyway (at the latest). You can go to a packed night club inside. Sigh.
NEWS: Sunday is the legendary @BarryWBZ's final day on-air before a well deserved retirement. 42 years of being a staple in Boston weather! A great guy and forecaster...lucky to have had the chance to work with him. #wbz
It's a big week for daylight milestones around Boston!
- Final week of solar winter (darkest quarter of the year)
- Sunrises are back before 7am starting Wednesday
- Sunsets are after 5pm starting Saturday
Today, they just cancel games when a blizzard is hitting.
In '78, the Beanpot went on. And it ended up being a long night. With a lot of Boston accents.
By late this week, we have the same sun angle as late October. Starting to get into sun angle season. You'll notice an uptick in bird chatter over the next couple of weeks. #wbz
Hummingbirds have been reported back in CT, RI, and SE Mass over the past 24 hours. Time to put the feeders out if you're looking to attract some to your yard this year! #wbz
