Actually no! It’s not HIPAA violation if there is no patient identifying information. By looking at the post, can you tell the patient’s name, age, location? Of course not! I am also HIPAA certified. This is just purely informational for public enlightenment. It would be a diservice if I don’t advise people to take precautions so this does not happen to someone else.

I don’t care how tough you may think you are if you do not have a little humanity in you then you’re a lost soul and a miserable being. Case in point. Sent my patient to the post surgery recovery unit. This patient had soiled himself and the nurses were cleaning him. All of a sudden I heard him ask the nurses why they are so nice to him? One replied that they are nice to everyone no matter who they are. This 72 year old man wailed and bursted into weeping simply for the act of kindness shown him. For context, this man is a convicted felon and was in handcuffs and leg restraints with prison wardens keeping an eye on him throughout his surgery. Yet we still showed him respect and compassion because he’s first a human being before anything else. Let’s be kind to one another, no matter our life circumstances.

Can I be a devil’s advocate for one quick second. I agree, your child should not be made to inhale second hand cannabis smoke. What have you done in a non-confrontational manner to address this situation with the person involved? Remember, this person as a tenant has as much right to live their lives how they seem fit. You’re not paying their rent, neither are they paying yours. I know people can sometimes be unruly when they feel attacked. Just have a neighborly conversation and appeal to their understanding by letting them know you have an infant can solve this issue. If that doesn’t work, reach out to your landlord to help intervene. If reporting straight to NDLEA was your first approach, madam that’s not cool. We should not be involving law enforcement when we can solve our own problems. I hope you guys work this out amicably.
