Associate Professor of Computer Science at Drexel University. Interested in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Sparse Coding. Working on the Terra Blockchain
Luna Classic is community driven. Nothing changes. No one (and everyone) decides the fate of the blockchain. To Luna v2, if needed, we'll work to keep the lights on there too.
Terra Classic governance has passed prop 4661. The treasury parameter rates have already been updated. Once the new epoch starts (block 9,475,200), the effective tax rate will automatically be changed to 1.2%.
I am proposing a Terra Classic grants program to attract new utility to the chain while providing accountability for community spending. Please share your thoughts on this Agora post. classic-agora.terra.money/t/…
Alex came forward with a very well thought out proposal and I support and applaud his efforts. Zaradar has a different proposal and I support him too. I encourage others to bring their ideas to the table so we can all weigh the pros and cons. Please keep it constructive.
As noted by others, some transactions are failing due to not enough gas on the Classic network. We have a fix for station. In the meanwhile, for those that have lost fees, we are exploring ways to reimburse through community pool distribution. More details soon.
Seems like lots of interest in playing the #LUNC fps game in Unity3D. Here you go. Put in your wallet address and it will send you LUNC. I'll fill the coffers every now and then. play.unity.com/mg/fps/webgl-…
Update on the delegation tax. It is working correctly and as expected. The problem is in the wallet sending excess "fees" when it is not actually required. This is sending more fees to the stakers and community pool. This fix does not require a change to the blockchain.
Hello Luna Classic community! Excited to unveil the first TGF initiative. We want to recognize and showcase the amazing contributions of organizations and individuals that revived the blockchain from May through Oct.
If you are a citizen of the Terra ecosystem, please use your voting rights on the following proposal. This is on the classic chain. station.terra.money/proposal…
As a follow up to the agora discussion on a grants program, I have made a community spend proposal to kickstart this effort. Please vote on governance prop 8813. A temporary website is up here, terragrantsfoundation.org/
In consultation with members of the community and Binance, we are looking at refactoring the burn antehandler. Please see the discussion here, classic-agora.terra.money/t/…
1/ It is unbelievable seeing the broader community getting hit hard from the FTX situation. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this latest tragedy.
For the Lunc community, there have been questions about the multi-sig and funding in general. Here’s what I know.
We have put forth 3 signaling proposals around optional features that we are seeking consensus on. Please see the description here, classic-agora.terra.money/t/… and cast your vote on proposals, #11358, #11359, and #11360.
A few clarifications on the Classic chain upgrade, station, and LCD/FCD endpoints. 1. The upgrade was successful and the blockchain is running fine. We made announcements in our validator channel, and I followed up with everyone I could find (validators/nodes/CEXs). 🧵👇
Thank you for protecting me. Because I code all day, my muscles have atrophied, and the only strength i have left is in my fingers to type and click a mouse. If I am to fight Do Kwon, it would have to be a thumb war. Everything else would be unfair to me.
3/ We are now well over the 2/3s voting power. Huge thanks to the Cosmos and Osmosis teams, LUNC validators, @ZaradarTR , @VegasMorph , and @RexYellerBelly
2/ Given the incredible effort of the Cosmos and Osmosis team, we had a patch available and installed (33% voting power) within 5 hours of the notification. At this point Luna Classic was safe from the security vulnerability.
Interchain Accounts (ICA) module is done. Will need to test on LUNC L1 TestNet, pass governance prop, then coordinate with JL1TF after parity is achieved to incorporate ICA into LUNC. Current private TestNet operational with 3 validators and 6 ML nodes and 17 total GPUs.
We can spend time throwing blame around / vilifying groups inside and outside TC... Or we can spend time fixing, learning, and moving forward.
tldr; Onward.
Hi @gadikian , I would like to appeal to your computational side to help explain my focus. My highest priority and current objective is to minimize the risk, specifically to the #lunc network, while I believe your objective is across multiple chains.
Please take note that Allnodes is doing their part to help with the decentralization of the network by raising their commission to 10%, starting today. nitter.app/Allnodes/status/160922… . However, staking is a 2-way street.
Because we recently became the top validator node, we are letting our @terra_money community know that for decentralization purposes our commission for staking $LUNA will increase to 5% after Feb 1, 2023.
I prefer to speak over video chat as I believe a lot can be lost in translation over async chat and other mediums, and have been doing so for the past several days. First, I believe that @gadikian passionately brought forth an issue in the ecosystem ...
9/ Lastly, I've finally had a chance to work with @ZaradarTR and beejee on the new code created by @gadikian . I feel much more at peace here building and focusing on the tech. I think I am going to do that more.
1/ Regarding prop 11242/11243, dfunk (author of the proposal) and I spent some time yesterday doing some chain analysis, and I think we partially figured out why estimates of gas contributions were *13x lower* than the actual amount going into the community pool
For those who had failed TXs from Sept 21 - Sept 28th, we are working on a governance distribution proposal from the community pool to refund your fees and taxes. If you would like to double check your TXs, please visit this google form. #BuildBackBetterforms.gle/iPHNfEvVhq9BReu7A
In order to obtain TestNet tokens you will have to send real LUNC to the burn address and enter the tx hash into the TestNet faucet. This is a sneak peak at the burn faucet.
Please stop spreading false information. I was asked to join to provide oversight and transparency. The board would receive no compensation. That being said, I fully support compensating hard working members that are building up this community.
While we got confirmation early on, with all the message passing, I believe the upgrade request finally got to the right people with only one day left, and they are working around the clock to help. Thank you for helping.
Thanks to the following community members (inside and outside Luna Classic) for the support and discussion.
Gadikian, Catshark, Zaradar, Zorro, Venus199, PFC, Vini, Sunny, Osmosis Grants, Need4Sneed, Vuong, Ruslan, GoldenStaking, Tuan, KevinGarrison, CosmosCapybara, GeoffroyVI
that is good news, thanks for sharing. I can squash the rumor that there is an active arrest warrant out. this is not true. they are 100% compliant with their local jurisdiction.
As a token of appreciation, we are suggesting that the community set aside 750M Lunc to developers, projects, validators, and community members that have demonstrated positive impact for the ecosystem. Please check out or new website for more details. terragrantsfoundation.org
When reviews are complete, we will offer up another governance proposal for the actual distribution of the funds. If the community is not satisfied with our process or the final distribution recommendation, the distribution of the funds can be rejected at that time.
TestNet playground will go public sometime in mid-May. TestNet will only support a small set of ML inference tasks at this time (AI image diffusion, text language models, and music generation). Distributed training, fine-tuning, python APIs, and SNARK verification comes later.
A YES vote for this signaling proposal indicates that you support this effort and would like TGF to move forward in collecting applications, finding independent reviewers, and providing a recommended distribution of the 750M.
8/ and final governance spend proposal. Concurrently, the grants program is putting together additional calls for proposals to build our independence and attract new utility.
classic-agora.terra.money/up…
3/ When fixed, much less will be going to the CP.
Delegates and validators in the #lunc community should take this new information into account when considering the data presented for prop 11242/11243.
2. Terra Rebels has a Terra Station clone. An independent wallet and community endpoint for the classic chain was always necessary, even if it were just to be redundant. The current events demonstrated this need. Thank you TR for making this available.
On another note, the v1.0.5 is set to pass shortly. I will be coordinating the upgrade in known validator channels and github repos (probably tomorrow).
3. The LCD endpoints were not upgraded in time, which we still rely on TFL for. They are under no obligation to continue to run these for us. This goes back to the dependence issue on 3rd parties.
Throwing hate at TR, TFL, etc., is driving them away from engaging.
The blockchain is the distributed ledger that holds all your information. The wallet just helps you view and interact with it. No need to touch your stake. The wallet is just a backup at the moment.
5/ Personally, I have been working with the newly setup grants program to help the community move forward. From informal polling, the majority believe that the first batch of grants from the community pool should go to devs, projects, validators, and community members ...
7/ Marco has put together a signaling proposal discussion towards this effort. If this is acceptable to the broader community, we will move forward with collecting application materials, reviewing contributions and impact, and presenting the results for discussion
2/ dfunk outlines the problem with a single transaction here, classic-agora.terra.money/t/… , in summary, there is a miscalculation in 3rd party wallets on what kinds of transactions should incur the 0.2% tax. The extra fee is being distributed to the community pool.
In this case, I would stress the community to look beyond the top 15 validators in particular. If sufficient voting power does not distribute in the next couple weeks, other algorithmic solutions are being discussed and will be brought forward.
6/ that revived the blockchain to where it is now, with a priority reward to those that volunteered / ran their operations at a loss.
classic-agora.terra.money/t/…
For reference, I did communicate with members of TFL-South Korea about the v1.0.4 upgrade with a lead time of about a week. My contact no longer had permissions (and actually no longer works at TFL), and we were forced to find someone in the Singapore office.
Please note that this is not a distribution vote. This is just a signaling prop that indicates if we have the support to move forward and collect/review applications. We will provide all the documentation and our recommendations to the community.
Recent events have identified the need for well defined policies and procedures. All L1 team members have the same independent contractor agreements being put in place.
2/ Vegas et al. proposed a new plan to claim the assets and send to the community pool (with guidance on how to spend) classic-agora.terra.money/t/… . We discussed this approach together early on, and it was clear that legal counsel was necessary (the first steps of the proposal).
3/ Independently, several community members moved forward seeking legal advice on how to minimize risk with respect to these funds. After some discussion, Alex is suggesting that the funds be obtained and burned in this way, medium.com/@alex.forshaw/mul… .
We confirmed over 75% voting power at the time of the upgrade. If you missed the announcement, please reach out to get plugged into the validator discord channel, or we can setup tg groups, and field suggestions, so we can better help next time.
TFL is developing a new station wallet that can be interoperable with the classic chain, given technical upgrades. At this time, we do not meet the criteria and are working to see what is feasible. What other 3rd party entities do, or do not do, are out of our control.
There has been feedback that there was not enough time for preparation. The allotted time that I thought was sufficient was about a week. It is noted that this is too short. We will plan for at least 2 weeks next time. This is my bad.
This makes sense because you work in the entire ecosystem, whereas my highest priority is #lunc. Hence you are focusing on KC, which has greatest impact on your objective function, whereas I am focusing on HVP which has the greatest impact to mine.
I am also told they are also working on further security measures regarding their validator services. That being said, the most secure setup is having your own bare metal. One can also look at github.com/strangelove-ventu… for redundancy and liveliness.
It is also the responsibility of a community member to redelegate in order to spread out voting power. Please take some time today to research the current active validator set, and delegate to those who have prioritized the security and growth of the chain.
Being the top validator is a great responsibility. We are aware of the concerns regarding our voting power. Based on this, we are letting our @terrac_money community know that for decentralization purposes our commission for staking $LUNC will increase to 10% after Feb 1, 2023.
