Azerbaijan and Turkey earns lot of money because of Indian tourists. These two countries are blatantly supporting Pakistan and have taken strong anti India stance. Disastrous budget. I'll tell what is relevant for investors: Long term capital gains for all asset classes is going to be 12.5%. You may worry about your stocks and equity funds. Actually that is very less of your concern. You pay 2.5% more than earlier now. What is important is same rate is going to be applicable for all asset classes including gold and real estate. In real estate, you've been paying a tax of 20% with indexation. That's why you were paying less tax. Now the rate is going to be 12.5%. Is it not time to celebrate? No. Because indexation benefits have been removed for all the asset classes including real estate. You were able to adjust your purchase price to inflation and then pay tax. Now that is not possible. The tax outflows on sale of real estate would be henceforth huge, very huge.

Pulwama happened to show Modi as a weak Prime Minister before 2019 elections. It backfired through Balakot. The idea now is to make Modi apologise to the west showing him as a weak Prime Minister before 2024 elections. This too would backfire. Modi would not apologise. Prime Minister is 74 years old. He works the whole day except for sleeping 3 or 4 hours. He works the whole week, month, year and infact last two and half decades without even taking one day leave. This is part of the BJP folklore celebrated everyday in WhatsApp universities. Ask any good doctor. If a person works round the clock, barely sleeping, without any break, and always lead the life like that- he would be highly inefficient and unproductive. Better for BJP to stop this narrative. Everyone needs adequate sleep, rest, small breaks from work and so on.

Even when I was a BJP supporter, I used to be dead against Sitharaman. She is a disgrace as a finance minister. Annapoorna Srinivasan is a well respected entrepreneur in Coimbatore. He pointed out some lacunae in GST, in a public interaction with Sitharaman, which was arranged by BJP. He was subsequently forced to apologise to Sitharaman in a private meeting. Is this how the central government going to behave? Sitharaman is an absolute disgrace. BJP is going to pay the price of humiliating a well respected Coimbatore entrepreneur in his own soil.

This is a country when Prime Minister @narendramodi asked middle class people to voluntarily give up LPG subsidies, more than 10 million families did so. To middle class, Modi could do no wrong. He was the messiah who has come to revive India. The same middle class is now disenchanted with Prime Minister. Not only middle class; the list is long including investors, SMEs, small traders and so on. This is solely due to mishandling by finance ministry. The day to day struggle has increased. There is no ease of living for anyone except political class. I can say this with high conviction. If elections are conducted today, especially after the latest budget by @nsitharaman, BJP would lose the power by a huge margin. Sir @narendramodi, if you don't make your finance ministry people friendly, people would cease to be BJP friendly. In terms of managing expectations and aspirations of people, finance minister has been a huge disaster.

So many BJP supporters are celebrating how India's GDP doubled between 2014 and 2024 - from $2.1 trillion to $4.2 trillion, a nominal growth rate of 7.2% Let me share another data: Between 2004 and 2014 - India's GDP tripled from $0.7 trillion to $2.1 trillion, a nominal growth rate of 11.6% Wish MMS had a fraction of marketing skills of Modi.

Many people, including BJP supporters, just tagged to my voice to vent their frustration. This shows how upset people are. Budget proved to be a trigger. We need ease of living. The BJP ecosystem is abusing me since yesterday for calling Chidambaram an excellent finance minister. They are saying he is a criminal. I don't know. The government knows better. This is 11th year of BJP rule. What has prevented BJP from proving in courts that he is a criminal and put him behind bars? Criminal or not, my assessment is limited to how he functioned as finance minister. Also if BJP can come down so heavily on me, their supporter; how they would be treating their opponents? This government has not learnt any lesson from almost losing the election. This rate of 12.5% as long term capital gains tax, without indexation benefits, is only a beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if this rate keeps increasing in the future. Inflation erodes money value. That's why indexation benefits have been provided. Now there is no safeguard for any asset holder in India from ravages of Inflation. Incidentally, this has made equities more attractive than other asset classes.

Vajpayee lost because he mostly beleived in clean politics. Clean politics is possible only if everyone plays fairly. That's never going to happen. If BJP has to stay in power and implement their vision for the country, it's impossible to avoid some amount of dirty politics.

When you @narendramodi can confer Padma Vibhushan to Mulayam, why not confer Bharat Ratna to P.V.Narasimha Rao who changed the destiny and direction of India. He put the foundation for what we are today. He is an unrecognized hero.

Saw @annamalai_k 's press meet now. He is only interested in Tamilnadu politics. He has no interest in Delhi. He is standing in loksabha elections because Prime Minister @narendramodi asked him to do so. Also it is Modi who asked Annamalai to contest from Coimbatore. Modi has said Annamalai and other MPs who will be elected by Tamilnadu people need to show in next two years what developmental work BJP is capable of. They should perform extremely well and then ask people to elect BJP to power in May 2026 state assembly elections. Tamilnadu should give opportunity to BJP to prove themselves. Under the leadership of Annamalai, Tamilnadu can be the number one state in India. This is not a mere catchy phrase or rhetoric. Annamalai is capable of changing Tamilnadu and take it to new heights. Tamilnadu would set new benchmarks under him.

Please understand the ground reality in Tamilnadu. BJP workers and supporters are no longer interested in winning few seats with the support of dravidian parties. I rarely use bad language. But I'm sorry to say it would only be middle finger for middle class.

Rich are funding bank. Poor are vote bank. Middle class are tax bank.

India is an extremely poor country. House is the only asset for many who own assets. And majority of the population don't own any assets, even a house. Even this single asset getting adversely affected was what got me triggered last week. Nothing personal. I'm better of by God's grace and I'm 100% tax complaint. Do you know that I pay 39% income tax? Do you know that I pay 18% GST on my distribution income without any input credit worth mentioning? So, roughly on the whole, I pay 57% of my income as tax ( little simplified for ease of explaining). For every Rs.100 I earn as income, Rs.57 goes as tax. Only Rs.43 is in my hand. Have I ever bothered to discuss or complain this? No because it is a rich man's problem. Whereas removing indexation benefits on home sale is a common man's problem. Hope this explains why I got so angry last week.

Bira 91 was one of the successful start-up stories of last decade. It is a popular craft beer brand. They were growing so well. Reality is strange than what you can imagine. A procedural goof up has lead to whole company being collapsing and the founder now being forced even to exit by company employees. As Bira was very successful, it wanted to come up with IPO. So it did a small change. It changed the name from B9 beverages private limited to B9 beverages limited. Just removed the word private. All the hell then broke loose. All the states immediately banned the sale of Bira 91 treating the new name as different entity. They demanded fresh legal approvals, label approvals, product registrations and fresh licenses for every single variant. Google and find out. This lead to one problem after another. Once a thriving company looks like may not even survive. I remember once someone asked Hina Nagarajan, former CEO of Diageo India as to why she is retaining the name United Spirits instead of changing it to Diageo India limited. She said that the company checked with best legal brains in the country and name change would lead to huge disruptions for business. Though what happened to Bira is extremely unfair, you've to accept the reality of India. Procedures, compliance and proper documentation are extremely important. The rules are so complex you should never desist from taking expert advice. What you assume need not work in reality and may even go against you.

If NDA wins but BJP do not get majority, it is doubtful whether Modi would continue as Prime Minister. BJP needs to get 272 for Modi's third term.

Our growth rate is 5.4% while inflation is 6.2%. Pretty bad for the country. When FMCG companies said consumption is falling due to distress, BJP supporters mocked these CEOs stating that people are consuming better alternatives. Government and RBI atleast need to act now. BJP supporters should take people's feedback constructively instead of criticising those who convey the negative news.

Attack on Adani is NOT attack on India. Adani is NOT India. Heights of arrogance. Read the gist of Adani's explanation. Found it shallow. But I'm not the deciding authority. It is markets. If the market is convinced, my opinion doesn't matter. We'll know by today and tomorrow.

Since 2014, this is the best budget under Prime Minister so far.

I'm seeing lot of heated discussion between Allopathic Doctors and Indian chess grand master Vidit Gujrathi. This is because Vidit chose to call his family members practicing ayurveda and so on as Doctors. I saw that tweet. It was simply wishing his family members happy Doctors day. No one forces anyone to trust ayurveda, homeopathy and so on. You may be comfortable with some branches and may be averse to some other. Each to his own. For 5 years, I was vomiting many times a day. My everyday life was miserable. Saw many Gastroentrologists. They were kind and sincere. But no amount of their treatment was able to cure me. I gave up hope of ever getting cured. Seeing my severe suffering, a friend referred me to Dr.V.R.Seshadri, an ayurvedic physician in Chennai. Believe it or not, with few ayurvedic medicines, he completely cured me in less than 6 months. My everyday vomiting stopped and has never recurred. Whether we want to take treatment or not, when Indian Medical Association recognises a stream, it is perfectly fine to call an ayurvedic physician a Doctor.

To be fair, congress government was more investor friendly. No tax on long term capital gains or dividends. The current government taxes heavily both middle class and wealth creators. It's P.V.Narasimha Rao who first initiated people friendly tax measures.

Never seen any leader attracting youth like @annamalai_k. Large crowds gather to see and listen to him. First time, many neutral voters have started considering BJP seriously. He is on the right path. I'm confident of BJP government in Tamilnadu under him by 2031. @narendramodi

If you remove top 10% of India’s population, the bottom 90% have a percapita income of around Rs.8000 per month. For the bottom 50%, it is around Rs.5000 per month. That's why I don't see any reason to celebrate India being 5th in GDP rank or becoming 3rd in next few years.

Vietnam is 7% of India’s population. And it has higher share than India in global manufacturing exports. We are that much lagging. And we are claiming of huge manufacturing growth during last 10 years, precisely when Vietnam outperformed us.

Till @annamalai_k came, BJP in Tamilnadu was considered the party of elites. This time, the cook and maids working at our home, the AC mechanic who came for service today, the barbers working in the saloon chain I go to; all are voting for lotus. Unless you are in Tamilnadu, you can't appreciate how phenomenal this is. These are all traditional dravidian party voters. Annamalai has made BJP a party of common man. The number of seats which BJP would win may be debatable. What is beyond debate is that the vote share of BJP is going to increase very significantly.

The problem with BJP trolls is, when I criticise BJP, they say I'm against India. When did BJP became India? Are non BJP supporters not Indians? India is ancient. India is grand. India is great. Political parties come and go. India is forever. It is height of snobbishness to equate a political party with our motherland.
