The horror in Waukesha happened over a month ago and yet there is almost zero national coverage of it today. No pieces profiling the victims, nothing on how the community is recovering. Nothing on the motivations of the suspect. It’s like it has been memory-holed.

Actually, former President Bush's retreat into a quiet civilian life and refusal to become a raging partisan is an endearing thing about his post-presidency.
The silence of George W Bush during the most consequential election in our lifetime is indefensible.

I first heard Tim Keller preach on Christ in Exodus. I’d never heard someone explain like that how the whole Bible fit together. I read A Reason for God and grew in my confidence to share the gospel without defensiveness. I read his books on marriage, preaching, work, justice, and other topics and grew from his wisdom and scriptural application. Most of all, inspired by his mix of apologetics, pastoral heart, piety, evangelism and commitment to the local church. When nobody raised their hand to go to NY, he went and committed himself to learning that city. God used him to bring many thousands to faith. The heart of an evangelist. The approach of an apologist, the commitment of a pastor, the precision of a theologian. He was a brilliant scholar who never flaunted his intellect. He could he prophetic without being condescending. I thank God for Tim Keller.

One thing that liberates your daily Bible reading: realizing every day doesn’t have to be this big moment of inspiration. Sometimes that happens. But what’s more important is the rhythm of reading and rereading the Scripture. Over a lifetime, this ritual can shape the soul.
