Early into the summer of 2024, my journey to expose myself to the crypto world officially commenced when I joined the Dalhousie Blockchain Society. I originally heard of this opportunity through
@AsharBelanger, the Founder and President of
@dalbcs. He graciously recruited me to be one of the thirty founding members. I joined the club with little to no crypto knowledge, but an open mind and a desire to learn more. Since I joined, I have been able to create a crypto wallet and start investing in cryptocurrency for the first time.
A huge part of my learning can be attributed to Ashar’s inclusiveness and exceptional mentor skills. At our weekly crypto meetings, he would make it his goal to try and leave us with a little more knowledge than when we entered. While there was definitely a learning curve with new technology and platforms, the process was made a lot easier by having other people around me who wanted to learn just as much as I did.
Dalhousie Blockchain Society has been grateful enough to create so many surreal experiences for their members. A handful were given the opportunity to travel to the University of Michigan for The
@MBC_Conference. Dal BCS also recently hosted an amazing event at Pacifico, thanks to the help of
@SonicLabs. There was a live music section and members were granted drink tickets as a perk to being in the club. Other perks include various meme coin drops where Ashar would give back to the club’s members.
Aside from the physical benefits such as drink tickets or meme coins, the Dalhousie Blockchain Society has provided me with something much more valuable. This society has given me a newfound passion for the digital space as well as the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who are also trying to immerse themselves in the crypto world.
