Nearly 4 years after the start of the Covid pandemic, key scientific & policy questions remain unanswered. Watch Collateral Global’s new video to learn more about our plans to answer these questions in 2024. CG is a unique research institute and educational charity dedicated to learning the lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic. In particular, we are concerned about the social harms of Covid policies and the politicisation of science. We support independent research that engages the totality of evidence and challenges persistent assumptions and misconceptions. Our mission is to help ensure that future pandemic policy responses are evidence-based and balance societal trade-offs to maximise the health and well-being of all people. “On September 3rd, 2020, my 88 year old father entered a rehab hospital. The COVID policy was no visitors - not even family. For 2 months he languished there, alone, as he said on many phonecalls, "staring at the wall." I could hear the light leave his voice over the weeks when we spoke. My sisters and I vowed to be there the second they allowed it. On November 5th, I got the phonecall that he had died. Alone. No family to hold his hand, comfort him, tell him they loved him. This man, full of life and humor, intelligence and wit, who had led a wonderful life- deserved more, and I'll never get to say goodbye.” Read the full story here collateralglobal.org/covid-s…

“In December, 2020, I got a call late at night. Mum was going to palliative care. Her thyroid cancer came back very aggressively and she just had days to live. I made the split decision to get on a plane and fly back from Phoenix, Arizona to The Gold Coast, Australia. The bureaucratic and logistical nightmare of getting to the Gold Coast, Australia from Sydney to say goodbye to Mum was horrendous. I got a special exemption to see her before beginning my 14 days in hotel quarantine. Multiple PCR tests and 3 days later they let me see her. The staff at the hospital told me to socially distance from my beloved and dying Mum in ridiculous protective clothing and said not to touch her, was I supposed to remain compliant? I held her and talked to her. I was given 2 hours to spend with my Mum. The inhumanity of this experience was treacherous and I felt like was treated worse than a criminal.” Read the full story here collateralglobal.org/covid-s… Then add your own story here collateralglobal.org/covid-s…

Collateral Global has developed a webapp that allows anyone to tell the world how the Covid responses, restrictions and mandates impacted them. Stories are published and pinned on an interactive map so people around the world can read them. The webapp is in its infancy, but we hope that in time hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of people will add their stories – like this one collateralglobal.org/covid-s… The webapp is accessible from any device, from any country and is free to use. Click here to visit the web app collateralglobal.org/covid-s… We would also like to ask you to forward this link to your friends and family and ask them to also add their story. Our webapp provides everyone a way to tell the world how they have been impacted over the past 3 years. Together, we can also build a clearer picture of the impacts of the Covid responses, restrictions and mandates.

“Four days after we wrote The Great Barrington Declaration, the head of the National Institute of Health, an agency from whom I've received funding for most of my career, a man named Francis Collins, whom I've long admired for his scientific brilliance, also for his faith, he wrote an email to Tony Fauci, calling me, Martin and Sunetra fringe epidemiologists, and he engaged in a media campaign to conduct a devastating takedown.” “Media hit pieces flooded the airwaves alleging that the three of us wanted to let the virus rip and to kill people, to kill people kill grandma.” “He went after us for the crime of advocating that we better protect older people from the virus and to allow kids to go to school.” “This was an abuse of power by Francis Collins. As head of the National Institute of Health his agency controls the funding and professional standing of nearly every Biomedical Scientist of note in the United States and many worldwide.” “When Collins directed his devastating takedown of the Great Barrington Declaration, he sent an unmistakable signal to other scientists and epidemiologists - fall in line with his lockdown policy or face excommunication from the scientific community.” Watch the full speech delivered by 2024 Bradley Prize winner Dr. Jay Bhattacharya at the 20th Annual Bradley Prize Ceremony in Washington, DC on May 21, 2024 here: piped.video/watch?v=T_Fu4QNv… @KevinBardosh @DrJBhattacharya

"CDC goes it alone with universal Covid booster recommendation" "Earlier this week a US CDC panel of advisers voted 13-1 to recommend new Covid vaccine boosters for all people over 6 months of age, contradicting European and WHO guidelines that focus on high-risk groups." "A marketing campaign accompanied the US decision. Dr. Ashish Jha, previous White House Covid coordinator, claimed that the new booster shot will help those jabbed stay in school or work, slow transmission to Grandma, and prevent long Covid, calling the decision “a no-brainer”. A press conference with senior Canadian public health authorities, socially distanced with masks, also promoted the new universal booster recommendation." "In contrast, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and state Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo came under fire from Politico, the Washington Post and others for contradicting the new CDC and FDA’s universal recommendation. Ladapo claimed that “with the amount of immunity that’s in the community […] and with the questions we have about safety and about effectiveness”, the vaccine would not be “a good decision for young people and for people who are not at high risk at this point in the pandemic”." "Yet DeSantis’s stance echoes those from other countries, such as the UK and Sweden, that have recently removed universal recommendations for the 2023-24 season for those under 65 years old. Eligibility extends to being in a clinical risk group, being a frontline healthcare worker or a household contact of a high-risk person." "While Covid vaccine mandates have largely been removed in the US, they continue in an estimated 7% of US universities, as well as some healthcare facilities and workplaces. Universal recommendations may provide justification for maintaining or expanding them this autumn." Tom’s Story - at collateralglobal.org/covid-s… - visit now, add your story and have your voice heard. "I am Tom, I am now 12 years old, I had just turned 9 when the first lockdown was announced in March 2020.  I hated it straight away, I loved school and being with my friends.  I am dyslexic and struggle with some things that others manage well. Online learning didn't work for me - it just made my head fizz and I felt really lonely.  I wanted to be with all my friends and teachers, especially the special teacher who helped me make sense of everything. I felt sadder and sadder as the lockdown went on and on and I started to forget why I ever loved school, it just felt like the adults had thrown it away and so it wasn't really that important to go. We went back to school properly in September, but it wasn't the same, the rules were still there and all of us kids felt weird and didn't know how to be like we were before. I know it has been a long time since then but me and my friends still feel sad about it and I don't feel like it will ever feel the same for us, this makes me sad."
