Same situation here. Sponsors on decals are the vast majority of our revenue associated with Rocket League and outpace skin revenue share. Naming rights would be significant as well.
The potential to lose those opportunities would be devastating to sustainability in this game.
Not commenting whether this is true or not
But I will say, our naming/decal partners are the ONLY reason that we've managed to stay in RL
It is not currently sustainable otherwise. Believe G2 effectively said the same?
This change would make securing those partners harder

Every time I open Valorant my computer jumps to 100% CPU for about 5 minutes. My Windows Defender re-enables itself and tries to block Valorant like its some kind of malware.

This is false. Matt was confused. We were never asked by anyone - Valve or any Chinese representative - to kick Skem. We have had no contact from Valve, despite our attempts to reach out to them.
It's not a rumor. Skemberlu and Kuku are both banned from attending the Chongqing Major. Col and TNC were both contacted prior to the event and were asked if they wanted to kick the players.
There is still a chance that this ban can be extended and block them from attending TI9.

We spent years having collective conversations with Psyonix about sustainability for the esport, and there were a lot of positive strides made since those convos started back in ~2018. Unfortunately it seems there may be a shift in the winds and only time will tell what is next.

At age 16 @s0mcs is already one of the most mature players I've ever had the chance to work with.
Things didn't progress as we originally intended, but I know Sam is going to have an amazing career, and I'll be cheering for him every step of the way.
Today we announce the release of Sam ‘@s0mcs’ Oh
Sam was signed as a player prospect in April, intending to try him out this Summer. Our team's recent upward momentum changed our strategy and at this time Sam is hopeful to join an active roster.
