lets give learning artists actual constructive criticism instead of putting artists down . hello .
here's a short list of things that personally helps me keep growing as an artist: thread
this still makes me so mad cause u could remove the donut lips & give him his melanin back and his character would be way more appealing visually ! way more !!!
before that tho, let's try and keep the art community more positive. ik thats like asking for gold to rain down from the sky but this isn't fair to artists learning shit for the first time. this is what makes people quit. disappointed from an artist i admired !
• don't criticize your art so much. that is smth i had to learn and that shit was hard! it still is something i struggle with. the second u stop & dog on your art is the second u start hating everything abt it. don't make it a chore! keep it something u still love to do. 2/7
• learn color theory! everyone says it ik but trust me it is so worth it. i still struggle w it i get you ok
• try out grayscale. this i still struggle with 2 BUT it helps when it comes to light sources and values or whatever without having to focus so much on your colors. 3/7
• if you're wanting to do more realism stuff, i recommend going crazy on anatomy studies, real life references, skeletal or muscle diagrams, etc
• for cartoony art styles, maybe study old & new animation ! especially kids shows (chiikawa helped me w chibis recently LOL) 4/7
• get into traditional art . so serious. it's a nice break from screens. i recommend experimenting w oil pastels and color pencils.
• real time drawings! like courtroom sketches or other irl settings, local park, shop, etc, helped w stop worrying about every little detail 5/7
• yes, flipping your canvas ! helps me spot inconsistencies i dont like and i do recommend it!
• experiment like crazy. OR stay where you're at if you like what you're doing. it all depends on you and how you like to draw. ik i don't fw changing a art routine all the time 6/7
• USE! TEXTURES! i cannot stress this enough, it's brought more life to my art projects
• STUDY.
• i think that's it off the top of my head ! to wrap this up here's some youtube videos that's helped me over the years that definitely explain better than i do lol 7/7
