Have been trying to stay out of the @FantomFDN Meme Season drama but the lack of proper debate around it is doing my head in so... here's my 2 cents to hopefully progress things & not stoke the flames Have to laugh at how intense things are half-way through 1/10 planned rounds; if we all want the most out of this like we should; let's take it back a notch There’s been a lot of whining but plenty of fair points made; we need to be open to intelligent discussion & stop being so tribal & arrogant imo; it's embarrassing 12 uncontradictory (imo lol) opinions / observations: 1. The competition is a positive thing for Fantom; we have wanted an incentives injection for a long time 2. The competition is a fairly unimaginative way to spend a massive amount of funding (10M sFTMx) 3. There's been confusion caused by lack of clarity on conditions that could have been easily avoided 4. Even if well out of the prize places; being involved is great & welcome exposure for all projects featured 5. A top 3 is too restrictive; 1M sFTMx a round could spread 50k to 20 projects for huge ecosystem uplift 6. More competition is great; but if big money comes in w/ naivety the market will pass quick judgement 7. Low effort is low effort whether new or OG; same people pumping out multiple tokens doesn't help 8. While it's a great attention-getter; the significant new volume & TVL it should bring may be mercenary 9. Being a small community / echo chamber is a big problem for Fantom; we need to be better at change 10. Foundation staff understandably defensive; but should be more open to criticism (if not personal) 11. A lot of projects have felt unsupported for some time; & seeing support given so easily can provoke 12. Raging is not the way; we're all way too entitled & should respect each other & embrace opportunity None of the above are intended as blame casting or finger pointing; they're simply observations that can be taken as feedback; left; or raged at as you wish So good to have big incentives on offer on Fantom; there'll be a lot to be learn when the 1st distribution is done; here's hoping it creates a rising tide that lifts all boats (apart from ones that will sink regardless) My general feeling is that Meme Season Round 1 has been good for Fantom; but could be much better; it would be a shame for great potential to be wasted in a reverse Robin Hood scenario w/ rich getting richer But contests are contests; I legit love that my project launched through a small presale can go toe-to-toe w/ another that dropped 6 figures (presumably) on a celebrity host & 300+ KOLs for theirs; LFG $ECO More respect; better listening; onwards & upwards!
