Utilizing the Bat on the Shoulder drill demonstrated below, hitters can create 90 degree angles at Early Connection and Connection at Impact with their Body Tilt and Vertical Bat Angle.
This will help the hitter get On Plane with the incoming pitch and maximize success.
It is critical for hitters to use their posture and Body Tilt to get On Plane with pitches at different locations.

Use the 45 Degree Offset drill to create separation between the upper and lower half of the body as well as feeling the load in the core. With this drill, hitters should see improvement in their Rotational Acceleration and On Plane Efficiency.
The word plane can take on different meanings to different individuals. At a recent @ABCA1945 Barnstormers event, Blast Baseball breaks down the difference between measuring swing plane (On-Plane Efficiency) and matching it to pitch plane (w/ Attack Angle).
Here we breakdown On Plane Efficiency:
⚫ What it is
⚫ Why it is important
⚫ What your training focus should be based on metric range

Coaches, use the Bat on the Shoulder drill to help your hitters improve their Plane by focusing on getting connected early and staying connected throughout the swing.
Attack Angle is the angle of the bat's path, at impact, relative to horizontal and can be: Positive, Level (0), or Negative. Data suggests pro-level athletes have the most success with an AA between 5-15 degrees. 📐⚾️
What's your goal AA?
Do you have hitters that struggle with Attack Angle?
Coach @Josb0731 explains the Attack Angle drill aimed at forcing hitters to swing with a positive Attack Angle to maximize on-field results.
"Using the (Blast) sensor data…Werthan was able to show Moniak how his On Plane percentage improved to where the Phillies thought it should be...Over his final 58 games, Moniak produced a .291 average, .337 on-base percentage and .787 OPS.”

The word plane can take on different meanings to different individuals. At a recent @ABCA1945 Barnstormers event, Blast Baseball breaks down the difference between measuring swing plane (On-Plane Efficiency) and matching it to pitch plane (w/ Attack Angle).
Early Connection is a measure of a hitter's Body Tilt and Vertical Bat Angle at the start of the downswing. It plays a critical role in the hitter's ability to get On Plane early and the goal is to be as close to 90 degrees as possible.
"Two hitters can have similar bat speeds but how quickly and how efficiently they build it can be the separator between success and failure at that level."
