You're 25. You work on legacy code at a startup with founders who are 28. You haven't seen a single unit test since 2014 and daily standup takes an hour. You stick around for a few years and learn nothing. Company eventually dies and you're almost 30 still coding angular.js
programming used to be about how well you could google search
now programming is about how well you can write prompts for an ai system to generate code for you
I'm hiring a Fullstack Software Engineer to work with me at Voidpet

The coding tutorial space looks super crowded, but it is actually a barren wasteland after the basics of a programming language
everyone is making -> "Learn Python"
some -> "API Auth in Python" or "DBs + Python"
few -> "How to build a full project in Python"
if you are a programmer that wants to get started making content but don't know how to do it, try making some bad content it's really easy to do and it teaches you how to make good content
With AI, your job as a programmer is no longer to write code but to review code
ChatGPT/copilot is now your personal junior developer that you have to mentor and code review
🚨 New Tutorial 🚨
Fullstack React + GraphQL + TypeScript + More

The existence of react native makes react.js one of the most useful skills to learn
Crazy that 70% of your knowledge from learning to make websites can carry over to building iOS AND android apps
programming is a game of persistence where devs usually mindlessly scroll google/stackoverflow/github smashing ctrl-c ctrl-v until a new bug appears because we love pain
I'm considering making a fork of VSCode Tinder for jobs where people who want to hire developers can swipe through the code (or maybe resume instead?) of developers looking for work
what do you think?
if you're a young person, ask a middle-aged developer about programming with punch cards. let them talk for 30 mins. act interested and say "oh wow that sounds harder than HTML." after that you can ask them for any favor
I don't really hate java that much, especially with intellij
...but being able to use the same language on the frontend + backend is sooo nice
and typescript is basically more elegant java
so that's why I use node.js for everything
