Saved by Grace. Love my wife. Dad of 4 beautiful girls. Write stuff on Oiler prospects, the NHL draft and hockey tactics. Don’t yell. It’s free.

Personal update: today my time at @OilersNation comes to an end. Was my choice and it was very tough. I owe a lot to @zjlaing and @jsbmbaggedmilk who gave me a chance and guided me along the way. The people at ON are passionate about their craft and I’ll miss that. 1/2

I’ve been analyzing this road trip intently. Watching all the video. I believe the answer is straightforward. You don’t bench a player after his scores his first NHL goal. And you definitely don’t bench him for 3 games. That just angers the Hockey Gods. #thatwaseasy

Gonna repeat myself here. I saw Ty Emberson play 50 times between Wisconsin and Tuscon in the AHL. His skills match the Oil. His 5v5 pts/60 would have placed him 3rd on Oilers D behind 2/14. He also averaged 3.7 shots/g. 2,14 and 25 were over 6 shots/g. Analytical trade IMO

Probably unpopular. I’m ok with 97 being greasy. He should be suspended no doubt. But he’s been on the receiving end often including two that led to serious injury. He’s human. I get it. If I’m his teammate, I’m doing everything to pick him up when he’s gone. My two cents.

Quinn Hutson is an unbelievable signing by the Oilers. I saw him 83 times. A little on the small side as a winger. I’d have modest question on his ability on the walls against pros. That said he’s a very fast paced player who’s an excellent passer with a pro level shot. 1/2

Hutson is now tied for 3rd in AHL rookie scoring (12pts). Marjala has 13 in 14 games. Jarventie 10 in 10 games. Samanski up to 7 in 14 games. Howard had 2 assists in 1st game. Akey had a strong 1st game with an assist. These are encouraging developments for the Oilers.

My last 2 cents on Holloway. These are SOME of his traits scouts acknowledge: 1. He’s NHL fast; 2. He’s physical; 3. He’s big; 4. He’s a forechecking demon; 5. He’s a 200 foot player; 6. He’s greasy; and 7. He’s very confident. Do you think he’s a fit for this series?

Sam O’Reilly was my #2 Oilers prospect. Howard fits right there. In my opinion the best element of this deal is to have two guys who will absolutely play in the top 9 on ELC contracts as soon as this season. The second part is the team with Savoie and Howard is very fast.

The world is a much poorer place today without Bruce. Love you buddy. Blessings to you, Kevin, and your family. So very, very sorry.
This will be the hardest thing I've ever had to write. Last night, shortly after the hockey game and this tweet was written, my father .@BruceMcCurdy experienced a medical emergency and became unresponsive. My family called 911 and resuscitation efforts were performed to the maximum extent possible, and he was transported to hospital. Unfortunately despite the valiant efforts of St. Albert Fire & Rescue and the medical professionals at Sturgeon Hospital, my father passed away. To say that we are devastated is an extreme understatement and we ask for privacy as we deal with the grieving process. We understand that Bruce touch so many lives in various communities and we will do our best to advise what our next steps are. Thank you for your understanding on behalf of myself and the rest of the McCurdy family. I love you Dad, and I miss you more than words could ever tell you.

Not sure why Cody Ceci is in my timeline, but fwiw, it was a brilliant trade. The Oilers are benefitting from it on the ice and in the salary cap. It's also nonsense to suggest team D/PK would be better if he were here. I wish him the best. It was time to move on. Great trade.
