📣 After nine months of bargaining and eight weeks of strike action, BCGEU public service members have reached a tentative agreement with the provincial government that makes meaningful progress on wages, affordability, and respect for frontline workers. This agreement was won through solidarity — from members who stood strong on hundreds of picket lines to allies across the labour movement who stood beside them. It reflects the determination, unity, and strength of our membership and of working people across B.C. While this tentative agreement has been reached, members of the Professional Employees Association (PEA) remain on strike. BCGEU members will continue to respect PEA picket lines in solidarity with those workers, who have yet to reach a fair deal with government. Until members hear otherwise, all picket lines will remain up. The bargaining committee will be providing further information to members soon. Full details of the tentative agreement and ratification process will be shared with members in the coming days. ✊When we fight, we win.✊

Today, public service workers across B.C. took to the picket lines to demand a fair deal. From Prince George to Surrey to Victoria, 2,627 workers in key ministries walked off the job — making it clear that government’s low wage offer is not good enough. These workers keep B.C.’s economy moving by reviewing projects, permits, and environmental assessments. When they stop, projects stall and communities wait. This action is backed by an overwhelming 92.7% strike vote mandate. Members are united and ready to fight for wages that reflect the rising cost of living. 📍 Strike locations: • Prince George: 1011 4th Ave • Surrey: 10470 152 Street • Victoria: 3350 Douglas, 4000 Seymour, 1802 Douglas, 1810 Blanshard, 836 Yates, 675 Belleville. ✊🏽 Join the picket line. Bring your solidarity and your support. 💬 Share this post to spread the word. Together, we’ll keep pressure on government!

Our hearts are deeply heavy today as we learned of the passing of Kim Novak @kim_novak_ufcw, president of @UFCW_1518. Kim had a tremendous impact in BC's labour movement and on all workers in the province, as an avid advocate for workers' rights – regardless of what job they did or where they worked. Coming up through the labour movement from the retail sector, she would often talk about how those experiences helped shape her values and drive her to fight for others, and she was a consummate and steadfast champion for treating everyone with the dignity and respect they deserved. Kim was a compassionate and dedicated labour leader. Whether it was in a lunchroom, or a board room – filled with members or provincial decision makers – she entered every space with a warm smile and a strong purpose: ready to listen, to collaborate or to fight for what was right. Our union was proud to fight alongside Kim, and she was always there to show up and support BCGEU members. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Kim’s young family, the members and staff of UFCW 1518, and to all those who knew and loved her. #bcpoli #bcfed
