Avalanche and crypto changed my life.
Feels cringe to say, but it's true.
here is my story:
It all began in 2015, my freshman year of college.
I discovered bitcoin, because it was the only way to buy fake IDs off of the internet for cheap. lol.
I would spend $100 in bitcoin to buy materials to make ~80 fake Ids. I would sell them for $80 each to my college friends and frankly made the easiest money of my life.
I stopped once I turned 21 because the laws went from "this dude likes to party" to "this dude works with terrorists", so just not worth the risk lmao.
Was paying attention from a far for a few years until 2021 when I got back into the space. Hard.
at the time I was a mega normie.
My biggest source of information was watching
@ZssBecker videos (I routinely got dumped on).
One day, he included this new token in his video...
$AVAX. Said it was really good tech (he never talks about tech).
I dove deeper on Avalanche and it reaffirmed my belief in a decentralized future. Felt like it could really work.
I was loving how fast the network was.
I was loving the vibes of the apps.
I was loving the vibes of the community.
During this period I was working as a Software Engineer at a fortune 25 company, and frankly was bored. I knew my life was meant for something more. I knew there was more out there for me.
My eyes were set on getting a job, any job, within the Avalanche ecosystem.
The problem was that I had no skills and no brand.
I started doing hackathons and bounties. Anything I could do to get skills. Applied to jobs, got rejected from jobs.
One day the CMO at the time
@devonf put a tweet for a job along the lines of...
"If you are good at social media, love Avalanche, and are good on camera... we want to hire you to cover our events as an onsite correspondent."
(Context here is I was a tik tok influencer in college, so had the skills to maybe do this).
5 min after I saw the post I whipped out my phone, recorded a video, edited it on my phone, and sent it to him... less than an hour after the post came out.
That Friday I had an interview.
2 weeks later I started the job.
The rest is history.
Went from a software engineer at a massive company to a marketer on one of the fastest-growing companies in the world.
Best thing that has ever happened to me.
