My driver this morning was bursting at the seams to tell me that he and his wife are voting for the very first time this year (in Virginia). They’re immigrants from the Middle East & have never experienced voting before. He was visibly excited and proud and even a little bit nervous. It sounded like his wife was driving the bus on this, too.
We didn’t talk politics at all, just about how special and important voting is. He commented on how it’s just not a thing in his home country, and how momentous this feels, now that they have become citizens. Genuinely inspiring. 🇺🇸
As I was gathering my stuff to part ways, he offered, “we are supporting Mr. Trump.” Truly wasn’t expecting that, but there it is. One small anecdote. 🗳️
