“Clemson football is 34-2 versus its ACC rivals over the past four years. To match Florida State’s 1992-2000 ownership of the league, all the Tigers need to do is win their next 36 conference games.”
So former FSU running back Mack Brown beat FSU alum Manny Diaz in football, and former FSU basketball staffer Michael Fly beat the Canes in hoops, and former FSU QB Brad Johnson's son beat the Gators in FB. Did I miss anything?
A few quick thoughts on @fsufootball. First, FSU has now lost 2.5-3 million in EARNINGS (not revenue) by missing the last 2 home games. If you think they’re canceling to avoid losses I can’t help you. They want to play these games. (1-9)
Gotta love the polls. Michigan loses 12 1st place votes in coaches poll I guess for sign stealing, not for struggling. FSU loses a 1st place vote for covering at home against a top 20 team. And Georgia gains 15 1st place votes while on bye, in the same week they lost Bowers.
While you were sleeping @gened01 caught a 6 am flight to connect thru ATL and land in LA at 10:30 local to make a 1:05 pst kick. That's what you do after you call your 500th @FSUFootball game.
I've been to every FSU spring game, or most anyway, since '89. Nothing like yesterday has ever happened. There was plenty of buzz in '13 for Jameis, but that was for 1 player. This is for the whole enchilada.
The game has changed, there are better metrics, season's not over, this team's far from perfect etc. But seems notable that the only 2 FSU teams this millennium that have averaged more total offensive yards per game than this one are 2013 and 2000. With QBs in Heisman years.
So I'm in Rock Hill, SC with @FSUHoops and the hotel desk clerk just informed me he's a Gator football and Duke basketball fan. Really? Do you like BYU women's soccer too?
1st time I interviewed Bobby was after the 1989 spring football game. Was a freshman reporter at V89. Didn't know where I was going or what I was doing and missed his entire session with the media. He stayed on the field and did another interview with just me.
Ways to fix FSUs home attendance issues:
5) Replace panhandle forests with industry, and thus more people nearby 4) Reduce stadium capacity (will happen in future years) 3) Improve in game experience: better WiFi, sell beer, etc. 2) Schedule better 1) Win
The end is never fun. Helluva year. Wrong time to be down 2 players, but Gonzaga’s legit. Seniors-thank you. Phil-prayers. Fi-see you here next year. Trent-can’t wait to see you healthy as a senior. And TMann-you’re an all-timer. #Noles
Speaking of recruiting, I have ZERO concern about decommits & early signing day. Noles could sign me & 24 randoms on Twitter & have enough talent to compete at highest levels next year. New coach will come, some recruits will follow and some will come back. Noles will be fine.
Before tonight's beatdown, my son asked if @FSUHoops had won with buzzer beater(s) before. I said "Son, once upon a time there was this dude named Michael $naer. Let me tell you about him. Better yet, let me show you." And then I hit play: piped.video/watch?v=4tBjudIB…
20 years ago #Noles came to UNC & got thrashed 41-9. We didn’t realize it in the moment but it was the beginning of the end of the dynasty. I’m not suggesting we just witnessed the birth of a new dynasty, but in a couple years we may look back on this one W as pretty significant.
Simply can't express how happy I am for 11, Meat, and all the Martins. And obviously all associated with @FSUBaseball. Sports is the greatest reality show there is. You just can't script it.
Opening game for @FSUFootball next 6 years: VT, Boise State in Jax, WVU in Atl, ND at Doak, LSU in NO, LSU in Orlando. Play at ND in '24, so let's just go ahead and move that to opening weekend too.
If they cancel the tournament we'll get @MadisonSocial to declare us national champs UCF style, with shirts, pint glasses, parades and whatever else they dream up.
Well said Danny. I hope #Noles remember the ride. 7-1 vs. UF, 7-1 vs. UM, a natty, 3 ACC titles, 29 game win streak, 5-2 in bowls, 3 straight 1st round QBs, some of the all time #Nole greats: Dalvin, Derwin, Jalen, Jameis, Rashad, Devonta. A lot to appreciate.
Attention to Seminole fans: handle this with class. Be thankful for what Jimbo brought to FSU. Wish him well. And be excited about the future. FSU will be fine and maybe even in a better place. #Noles
OK, done banging on the refs. Nice win for @FSUHoops. 8-1 with W's over UF, LSU, Purdue, and UConn. Nichols settlling in, freshmen maturing, and Cofer back soon. Great place to be. #Noles
There are many things FSU needs to do better, but I thought Saturday night was an encouraging night for @FSUFootball. And no I'm not into moral victories, I hear ya.
Others on the sideline today, pregame or during game: Marvin Jones, Dexter Carter, Bryant McFadden, Lonnie Pryor, Corey Simon, Wayne Messam, Roland Seymour, Xavier Rhodes. Sure I'm missing a few. But the stars were out.
Man one: “Good morning sir. Can you tell me who won the game last night?”
Man two: “Certainly, thanks for asking. The scoreboard over there says the #NOLES did. Have a nice day.”
My son: "Dad, if Jimbo leaves we won't beat the Gators every year."
Me: "Son, everyone beats the Gators." #teachablemoment
Son: "That's right they're the 2nd worst team there is."
Me: "Who's the worst?"
Son: "Delaware State."

Gotta be honest here: I thought Auden would make a roster, but didn't see the human highlight film coming. He's monopolizing my twitter feed every day.
You know who else I'm thrilled for? @TheBigShooter3 Since he moved off the field, he always stays behind to run the baseball camps when the Noles go to Omaha. This year no camps. Chip's eating steak. Awesome!
We’re walking down memory lane with @gened01 tonight. This one’s circa 1986. A young Andy Surratt, Gene’s longtime spotter, on the right. Some former FSU RB in the middle. #Noles
You know what I'm looking forward to? @FSUSoccer gunning for a title tomorrow. At the end of of a legitimate playoff bracket. I don't know who thought of that but what a great idea.
